I just picked the books up yesterday, and am only 143 pages into the hobbit. Its an awesome book. Hmmmm only 1176 pages until I finish the series.  Did you guys enjoy them as well?

Yup, loved the hobbit, I like the songs in it.  I actually memorized some of them but forgot em by now. Have you seen the hobbit cartoon?

I read The Hobbit, and some of Fellowship of the Ring, but I couldn't read it, I don't care for Tolkien's writing style at all, I find it to be boring.

I Read the Hobbit at least ten times, I always go back to read it, LotR is good too I just prefer The Hobbit, I still wonder why they didn't make a Hobbit movie before making LotR. :( I've seen the Hobbit cartoon when my dad got it online and wanted to show me it, I thought it was pretty good, it had alot of singing and acoustic guitar music in the background in it.

They cut out alot of parts in the movies, but that's most likely because we'd end up with a five hour movie.

Well, compared to the books. Of course, that pretty much applies to every movie adapted from a book...

Ya read them both several times and definitely prefer the Hobbit to LOTR. Hated the 3rd movie though because it destroyed the most important part of the book for me....... The books are far from boring if you got a good imagination.

Yes,
Hobbit, is has less depth, but nice adventure story.
LOTR has a lot of depth, but can get boring at  certain parts.

I read the Hobbit to the very last pages. I stopped there because I had other things to do. I never read the LOTR.

Yes, they are both great reads. I read LOTR cover to cover in 7 days when I was on summer vacation in Spain six years ago. It was like having a full time job of reading.
