You mean before "Good News for People who love bad news"?
Yea they were cool before then, they're still cool now. :|

No, "We Drowned Before The Ship Even Sank"... "sigh" They became a pop act.
I'm not a big fan of Good News either.

So is fire it up..
Well I don't think WWDBSES is their best album that title belongs to Long Drive. Good News has some really great songs The View and Bukowski. I don't understand you people that complain that a band has changed their sound. Get over it they still are better than 99% of the crap out their and if you don't like their new stuff don't listen to it. xXtheabombXx
I know, it's like "your supposed to wear the same clothes you wore in elementary school your entire life, never change tastes in music, books, movies, and never think new ideas"... lol
I love all of Modest Mouse's albums, but the latest is just amazing. It has a happier feel to it than most of their albums, and I like that. I freaking love "Invisible". I remember I always listened to that when I studied for Oceanography last semester because its relevant to the ocean obviously... "I like the saline tea, well it's true that the moon can pull it back and forth away from me!"
It's so happy, and just crazy... Same with "Fly Trapped in a Jar", "Well I hadn't noticed but the people really noticed that they really didn't want us around. So we all just opened up our mouths and walked through this town"
"We've Got Everything" makes me just want to dance around and smile... "Florida" makes me feel light hearted, and on top of the world. "Little Motel" is a lovely song, and a break from the upbeat happiness, but I still find it to be a happy story. "Steam Engenius" is just crazy, and kind of funky / jazzy, love it.
"Spitting Venom" is a masterpiece....I love the upbeat part, and then the transition into the brass (trumpet maybe) part leading toward the end.
"Dashboard" plays at my work every now and then and I just smile and forget how bad my day is going "It shoulda been, coulda been worse than you would ever know!" How can you have a bad day after hearing that???
And "Float On" is a song that helped me through so many hard times in my life.

I kinda enjoyed Good News, but I have every album up to that one, and it is by far their worst, but not in a bad way, effort. If that sentence made any sense at all.
[QUOTE="LOEAnubis"]Nope, can't say that I've ever enjoyed a Modest Mouse song, anytime I hear the whiney begginings of any of their songs I immediately turn the channel. Dethshoot
Whiney?
ya... not sure if we are all on the same page lol
Lonesome Crowded West.
I don't think new modest mouse is totally godawful, but not anything I'd buy or anything like that.
