I've seen them all, all pretty cool. You have to liked the old Star Trek to enjoy these, because i don't think the new age gets it. I am looking forward to it. Also i saw some storm troopers on a FB posting blowing up the enterprise this morning when they saw the trailer, was too funny.

Honestly I thought they completely blew the potential with the last movie and this movie.. They should have went full circle in how they were trying to do with Wrath of Kahn and the last one.. It was a neat idea plot wise in swapping the positions due to the timeline change in which it is Kirk that went into the reactor core to save the ship, and not Spock.. The writers should have showed some balls and made it out to believe that Kirk died, in which they launch him to space, only to find out in this movie that he was alive after all..

True, it doesn't look that great. Nevertheless I will still continue to watch it. Its like they can take it into a dark realistic time movie with huge action, and serious wars, or they can just do it like the comic book style and play it as is on this one. It'll be ok, something to watch anyway. It does look like a rental so far. Unless i just happen to have nothing watch that weekend.

DS9 still represents the pinnacle of Trek for me, in terms of narrative and characterization. Really wish they'd gotten a movie out of it, especially since most of the TNG focused movies were horrible.

Prediction: Kirk bangs that alien Russian chick. If not, movie will suck.

Also, needs more McCoy. And he needs to say, "He's dead, Jim" otherwise, the movie will definitely suck.

Is this the trailer that everyone has been saying was cringe worthy? Was it because of the music? I didn't really find the trailer bad at all.

Pretty disappointed. From what I've read, most Trek fans are feeling the same way.

I enjoyed the first one, the second one was ok and I'm not too sure about this one judging by the trailer. It's from the makers of Fast and Furious, so the trailer make sense by having more action than sci-fi things. I can't really judge a movie by a trailer, but hopefully it's really decent.

Agree. I do like the reboots, well the second was a bit pants, but would have loved to have seen a DS9 film post Dominion and what Odo would have done.

Who cares for me. Some of the fighting looks awesome alongside the stunt work. To many it is not Star Trek anymore and to some degree I would agree with that. TOS it isn’t, but Enterprise was appalling, so no surprise a re-imagining would not be acceptable to the hard core fans. Star Trek just ran out of ideas a long time ago.

To be fair, Star Trek movies haven't been very Star Trek-ish since the TNG movies. They are all very bombastic action oriented affairs completed with prolong gun/fist fights and car chases.

I too would love to see a follow up to DS9. We know Cisco isn't dead. He could do countless appearances. The same universe also has the Borg still as strong as ever. It would also be interesting to see Martok (as Chancellor) and Worf (in a civilian role) make cameo appearances.

Why wouldn't you expect a DS9 to be equally terrible? I mean TNG series were great but none of that translated onto the film versions. The problem with movies isn't the source material or the crew, it is the fact that producers wants to cater to the largest audience as possible instead of focusing on just what star trek fans want like the TV series.

Yes it would have had mileage. The one character that I would have liked to seen being developed further would have been Garak. With Cardassia in bits, perhaps finally a peace accord could have been explored with the Federation. Either way and whatever could have been devised, an organisation like the Dominion would not have just collapsed, considering penetration into the Gamma Quadrant was really not explored militarily. The Borg, Voyager did not finish the story arc for me.

Well, the plot in the previous ones were a bit of a thin stew.

lol they threw in some crap about fast and furious. this movie series isn't heading in a good direction if they think that mixes with star trek. they seem to be making star trek now for people with a 5 second attention span. this isn't what star trek was ever about. the music in the trailer was all dur dur dur what?

I know Simon Pegg wasn't exactly thrilled with it, but he did say there is more Trek stuff in the movie so maybe it was just a rubbish ad executive who put this together... will wait and see how the reviews turn out. It is an odd numbered Trek too so we can't be too hopeful.

It made me wonder if the Enterprise is supposed to be destroyed in every movie now. If so when does Starfleet just stop naming ships Enterprise as a cost cutting measure.

Maybe the Enterprise will become a new class of ship in a forth film if it will ever be made.

Things run in cycles. Cerebrial roddenberry trek will be back around in a decade or two. Until then you may as well settle in grab some popcorn and watch shit blow up while dirt bikes fly overhead.
