I heard a lot of young people don't use fb anymore. Do you still using fb? I am still using it cos a lot of my friends get used to it.

I still get on and see all the memes my older relatives post.
Yeah, that's the point. I asked a lot of young people if they have fb account, you know what they say? No way, my parents will be my very first friend :-). haha....
I even won't let my parents know my personal fb facebook.com/umeta.riri , The one that I let them know is a fake one with a lot of "good friends" :-)
I don't social media. I come from the old school where you keep your personal information off the interwebs.

That's why you have fake info. My relatives call me by whatever nickname I established with the account. Or they just call me uncle. Every bit of info I put in online is fake.
I think I'm one of the 5 people in the world that have never used Facebook... doesn't interest me.
I'm one of those 5 too.

Isn't posting on Gamespot considered a part of social media?

No, it's considered a forum. Social Media is more complex and involves social networking via mechanics of site operation (friends, Like buttons, etc.)

yeah but it's still different, on gamespot you don't use your own name, gamespot is also not after your personal data, so it respects your privacy.
My FB account have maybe 40 friends, all relatives. It's glorified email to keep track of family happenings.
It hasn't changed in 8 years. Teenage girls still duckface, unattractive woman who have lost confidence in themselves post a picture of their baby in their stead, then you get a three way divide of keyboard warriors who support immigrants and say the governments up to no good, Britains first lovers who post hate mongering propaganda, then you got people who don't get involved in any of that and post random videos of something funny (or meant to be).
I tend to have a lot of single young mums on mine who constantly post motivational posters to themselves, saying how being a single mum on benefits means they are kicking ass and have the greatest responsibility ever and nothing else matters to them to but there children, that they are so happy. Also got someone who is dead but don't have the heart to remove her, even though her feed has been quite inactive since then. Then I got my girlfriends girlfriends, who post picture of themselves on stipper poles or showing off a tattoo which is really an excuse to expose as much side or underboob as possible without getting the picture removed.
Girls.....
What's with this "still"? FB continues to be all the rage among people of all age demographics. This medium is taking over society; I'd have never imagined it'd aggrandize to become part of public life. Now we have heads of states, government officials and high-profile public figures addressing the FB establishment in earnest.

But the overall concept is the same though. And that's socializing with people.
In the same way that building a camp fire and burning your ex's shit down are both just throwing a match, sure.
I don't like the way friends comments randomly appear on my news feed, actually i don't mind it, but i don't want my comments going on their news feed. I might make some comments i don't want familly members to see. You know how it is.
Is there a way to turn it off?
Negative.
In order to my keep my "zen" thing going, I have to avoid looking at people who I went to high school lying about how perfect their lives are.
Best choice I've made in some time was deleting my account.
Yes. Not often though, usually just when I get an email from facebook saying I have a notification, or when it's one of my facebook friends' birthdays, to go wish them a happy birthday. Occasionally i'll share a news article.
I don't upload photos of my self, my profile photo is usually changed seasonally with me rotating among a few Windows XP background photos (and one picture of a puppy in a Santa hat on a pillow for Christmas time) depending on what time of year it is.
I started late to FB and to be honest I dont have much use for it other than frustrating my self with people's stupidity and bragging.
Im 23 and yeah I notice that people my age arent using it that much and the younger kids (16- younger than me) arent using it much at all. Things like Snapchat and Instagram is where most of the young people are at. I dont use either of those and never been on them.
Facebook from my experience has become a place for family and to post nice things. Snapchat and Instagram is where all the devious things and non-formal family friendly things are done where you and your close friends are at without worrying about your family seeing.
I remember when Facebook barely had people over 30 years old and people 30 and up would criticize the concept and say it was childish and a waste of time, but now I have uncles, aunts, mom, dad, professors, older co-workers/managers who are in their 40s-50s-60s on Facebook. Dated two girls and their parents were on FB and they already knew about me before I met them. I thought that was odd. Two hot twins at my job dont have facebook but their hot mom does. The twins however do have Instagram and whatever. Some times I dont want to post something I really do want to share because of the family member and now professors and other older folks that I have on their. That kinda forced young people (in their teens and 20s) to no post things because now their family could see it, where it wasnt the case 5-6 years ago. Thats why they moved to other apps where older folks are not gonna be.
