So I watched the premier of this show on Spike called "Deadliest Warrior", and the first episode posed the question of who would win a fight between an Apache Native American and a Roman Gladiator. I personally think the Gladiator would have it in the bag, but surprisingly the Apache came out on top, according to raw data they plug into this simulator that processes a thousand fights between the two, taking into account speed, force, momentum, psi, weapons, and other variables. you can watch the full episode on the website, it's actually a pretty interesting show. http://www.spike.com/show/31082
I didn't see the last 10-15 minutes where they actually simulated the battle, but I saw the rest of the show and I thought it was awesome. I think the Gladiator would win because of all his armor.
Ive got the episode loading, damn connection at my school is so slow, Im very interested to see how an Apache would win, I personally think a Gladiator would win.
Wow that is a good combo. I would pick the gladiator becuase they are a bit more highly trained. The Apache Indian would put up a hell of a tough fight. Though metal armor > hatchet
That is a great fight combo. But being Native myself (Cree/Ojibwa) i would have to go with the Apache hehe. Reason being is that Natives never stay down, either its to much pride or just plain ignorance for our health lol.
Oh and not to sound like a dink but Indian is a politicaly incorrect term as it was a mistake in the first place. Chris Columbus thought he was in India but was really on the other side of the world lmao. I dont mind that term being used though as many people dont know that fact or just disregard it.
Gladiators had bows & arrows too, and apaches were female reproductives so in a fair fight a longsword would beat a leather club. Sorry natives, at least you have cheap cigs.
Gladiators never truly wore full armor. Some of them wore as little as possible. As some have already pointed out Gladiators came in all types. Some are as agile as an Apache fighter while some were quite ponderous and slow but very tough to take down. Gladiators also rarely used ranged weapons other than tridents, javelins and spears. They were trained to entertain while fighting and standing far-off shooting arrows at another gladiator wa something they rarely did, if ever.
Considering gladiators could range from ex military to some poor criminal sap that got thrown in there for fun I'd say the Apache would win as every male was expected to be trained in the art of war.
