Remember when Sony released the PS3 and the outrage for $499 price, how can Apple get away for a $499 4GB iPhone? I am just curious to hear opinions... I am an iPhone owner.

Because Apple has a huge cult following that will buy anything with their name on it. Sony doesn't have a cult following - they were known for good products, so when the PS3 came out at $499 with a lackluster launch library, people were like .

Well, it seems Jalexbrown has hit the nail on the head. I have a friend who will buy anything Apple. He owns a Macbook, Iphone, Itouch, Ipad, Ipod and probably a few other things I am aware of.

That poor nail. I really didn't mean to hit it right on the head.

I would agree that Apple does have a huge cult following-- I mean the iPhone lacked a lot of basic features right out of the gate, and no 3G support, or MMS when it first came out. I have an iPhone too, and wish it had some features on some of the other smartphones have.

Hmmm, wow never really gave any thought to the two. Totally agreed with the above. My cousin and uncle own everything Apple, he even has the iPad... Anywho i think it's cuz it was supplemented with the phone plans to bring it down to a manageable $200 and everyone wanted one just like the iPod. And actually when it came out i think the PS3 was $599, i think. Man i wanted it so bad... own a Wii right now..

While I agree with the people above, I think it's because people are used to paying premium price for Apple products, while Playstations were usually on par with other consoles in terms of price.
