I just laugh knowing they're an idiot. This. Macs are useful if you're in graphic design, or some such field of work in which Mac's are standard. Otherwise, you can do everything a Mac can do, and more on a Windows PC.[QUOTE="Xsan3"]

im an engineer. more importantly an aerospace engineer. i need more buttons, more access to my OS. when i can start running all that software effieciently on a mac at a competitive price, ill consider switching. im college our teachers would often show us programs and that are frequently used in industry, then give us a license code to use them on our own computers. invariably someone would ask if it works on a mac, which was invariably responded with a laugh
for mp3 player? zune (RIP).
for travel, ipad2 is just about the best thing i could ever ask for when traveling
I just laugh knowing they're an idiot. ^^^^ This I can't defend macs even in the slightest bit there overpriced garbage end of story.[QUOTE="Xsan3"]

[QUOTE="MonsieurX"]Buy a PC,install OSX on it. Problem solved.Xsan3LoL, Buy a Mac, Install Win7 :D "Mom. Hey, Mom. Mom! MOM! MOM! HEY, MOM! Look how much money I just wast- MOM! Look how much money I just wasted, Mom!" "Very nice, dear."
Off Topic: dat avatar TC :o
also, i dont think either is superior to either. both win7 and OS X are incredibly good Operating Systems. both have pros and cons, and both are suited for some people more than others. as for me, im a videographer and photpgrapher so i have a macbook where i do all my editing (and am using right now) but i also have a desktop PC which i use regularly to play and mod games on. both perform great for whatever i want to do.

Or atleast a Dual Boot....
yeah. Macs are the best.
also, Kevin Bacon wasn't in Footloose.

is there any basis behind this assertation of just blind fanboyism.
There is no good reason. The only fallback they had was that they were better for creative software programs. That hasn't been the case for almost a decade now. A few nice things about how programs run in seperate virtual machines, cool stuff like that. (OFC this is slower)[QUOTE="JigglyWiggly_"]It depends on their reasons, and most of the times it's absolute crap.Pirate700

I'm sure Apple is fine but i'm more familiar with Windows. I like to build and upgrade my computers and Apple doesn't like that.
In terms of laptops, a Macbook is superior IMO. They get much better battery life than Windows laptops. However, for desktops, I'd rather build one myself and dual boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu.
Mac users try to pass them selves off as more cultured, intelligent and sophisticated than a PC user but a brief conversation about hardware and or programming will quickly expose that they are the more ignorant of the two and usually are posers/hipsters wannabe nerds... you know the type that wears glasses but can see perfectly.Grey_Eyed_ElfMost people don't give a crap about programming etc.

In years past, sure. Windows based laptops have caught up.

Most users I've come around that talk about Mac's are exactly that "most users"... the demographic of internet users who don't know or care about any other capability of the machine they are using. My wife has a MacBook and it really wouldn't make a difference of what she used as a mobile platform. The same goes for most users who just browse the web, Facebook and upload videos to YouTube with the occasional use Photoshop. Most people have a preference with no concrete reason as to why its their choice and end up just blurting out complete ignorant nonsense.

Some feel that Macs are easier to use...Thing about that, I work as a Software specialist at a hospital, and get questions all the time about Macs? Questions like, "How do I install update" Why is my Ipad Slow" or "How do I dual boot Windows" etc....I just tell em that I only know about how to operate a Windows PC, and if you're having all these issues - why did you Buy a Mac in the first place? A typical response "Cause Apple is Better" . . ?? omg

I think people who simply don't understand much about computers are better off with OS X. It's simpler.. and I found doing typical things like browsing the internet to be a better experience.

Well those people are just beyond help. No doubt! Sux that those folks have the money to spend that much ona Home Mac, and All I can think is "Man, The Rig I Could Have Built" !apple has its perks over windows, but ive used both for years, and i strongly prefer windows, its a personal preferance in the end, both can be used to do anything which you so choose

Well those people are just beyond help. I know kids these days who don't even know what landline is, or what plugs into the telephone jack. My neice was at her friends and called me cause they couldn't get the internet to work. I asked if the ethernet line was plugged in the back of the pc to the modem. She asked what was ethernet? I said it is a line that looks like a bigger telepone connector. She said internet dosen't come from the electric lines, it comes from the sky! I hung up.As a programmer that works with all (most) of the major platforms (windows, mac, linux, bsd) let me give you my OBJECTIVE opinion. ...... Wait for it.....
NEITHER IS BETTER THEN THE OTHER
They all have pros and cons and it comes down to what you need/want in your computer. My primary home computers are Macs. My friends always say, I wanna get a Mac soon. The first thing I ask them is, "Why? What are you gonna use it for?" And I would ask the same thing if someone was looking to get windows or linux.
PCs are more affordable, have better support, customization and are better for gaming.
MACs are more reliable, better security, performance, have a better UI, is better for development, and is built on top of unix so its better for programming.
Linux is free, open source, gives users more control of the system.
BSD is great for running reliable servers.
It all comes down to what you need.

Unless you game. So why buy something that does less than the other option for more money?... advertising and of course the psychology of pricing, people sub-consciously relate more dearer products to being the superior product. All this marketing and brain trickery(:P) is held tight by the awe-inspiring glue... ignorance. My answer to the TC's question/scenario is simple I would respond to such a comment with a simple why?... and wait for someone with at best secondary education in IT to respond with the most absurd, uninformed and utterly gibberish answer before barrel roll before their very eyes.apple has its perks over windows, but ive used both for years, and i strongly prefer windows, its a personal preferance in the end, both can be used to do anything which you so choose
