This is an intersting read. Apparently Apple is changing 'their subscription model. Companies that offer subscritptions would now have to offer it through the Apple store for the same price or less and companies wouldn't be allowed to link to their site externally anymore. Now I know you are probably thinking why is that such a big deal? Well Apple takes 30% of every transaction and since companies would not be allowed to link anymore it would either mean they pull out all together or start raising prices on they're site just becuase they have to compensate for it on the App store.

What are your thoughts on this? I think it is an incredibly bad move and its going to be real interesting to see how this pans out.

If your going to respond just read the article first so you can fully understand what is going on. My summary doesn't hit every point and I may have left out other important parts.

Well, this isn't doing much to change my mind about Apple. I have yet to spend a cent on their products. (including iTunes)

I hate how much control they take. I guess it is their maketplace so they can do what they want but thats also the reason I choose not to use it.

Jeeze, and then people rag on Valve for taking a portion on Steam. Apple is a thousand times worse.

Apple has always shown this type of attitude. None of their "we know what the consumer wants more than consumer" attitude is all that suprising.

This is a bad call though. They'll make a bit more profit, but more companys are gonna look at other operating systems more now.

Shouldn't Apple be worrying about Nokia being in bed with Microsoft now as well as Android gaining ground? This move doesn't sound like the wisest.

it just seems ridiculous that you buy a device, you own that device yet you have limited control on how you get software onto the device..
