Shinto, but they do have buddhism over there. Their religion is kind of a mix between buddhism and shintoism. But no not all people are buddhists there. :|

There are more Japanese people who follow Shinto, than Buddhism. There is also a small portion who are Christian

Numbers based on Birth records, Theres a certain element of cultural aswell I mean for a 83% shinto country 50% of weddings are chrisitan based white weddings and most funerals are buddhist. For example I call myself protestant when asked in Ireland because there asking which of the islands two cultures I come from the Orange or the Green and will have that type of wedding and funeral.
My firewall doesn't let me use links on this site but if you click on afew of the top google links after typing "Religion in Japan" its fairly evident that around 70% simply believe in nothing.

Not everyone is. My mom is a Christian, and so are my grandparents. My mom also has a friend who became a Christian.

well yeah Shintoism and Buddhism, and as well as Daoism and Confucianism arent really religions. There are more of a way of life

The adage goes like this: A Japanese person is Shinto in life, a Christian at marriage, and a Zen Buddhist in death. For most Japanese people, religion is mostly a cultural pastime rather than a belief system.
