Usually a best friend is untouchable territory in my books. But certainly if your current girlfriend is not nice or using you for your money it may be worth letting her down gently. Especially if you are having doubts anyway. If i were you i'd stay away from the best friend... There's plenty more fish in the sea mate.

Beauty fades, kindness doesn't. Also, if your ex is a daddy's girl and has a nasty family, you should steer clear. My ex's parents made my life a living hell. Not worth it.
