I want to go to an concert with friends.  One of my friends is driving.  My parents are unwilling to let me go, because they find it dangerous for teenagers to drive, especially a car full of teens, and think that people get wild at concerts.  It is true that people act wildly at concerts, but indie/emo concerts shouldn't be as wild as something like metal or something.  Do you  think my parents are overprotective?

Teens die a lot in cars with other teens. Like, more often than they kill themselves. That's very sane of them to worry about that and I'm very glad to hear that someone other than me and Thom Yorke have a fear of automobiles.

Depends who is playing at the concert. I've been to a few concerts and people are wild, especially in the moshpit. I've been in the moshpit and when I got home, I had a bruise going down my right leg, on my hip, my side, and my shoulder. I was sore for a couple days as well. Though, it depends who you are seeing and it might not be as rough. Teens tend to get in more accidents with a lot of teens in the cars since they are easily distracted and are not quite responsible enough to drive, especially at night. They could be doing something, very excited about whatever, talk on the cell phone, and when not paying attention, they could get in an accident. Of this year in April, there have been a lot of accidents where I live and they were teenagers. A girl who is a grade above me got in an accident and fractured her neck in three different places, but she's alive.

well most teenagers are nuts in the head...so i dont blame them..when teenageers (guys especially) get in a group they tend to act really really immature and stupid..

Say Anything is like nothing compared to most bands...they're still really awesome. When I saw them it was with a whole bunch of other bands and I felt like I was the only person singing along

Say Anything will come with Saves the Day.  Saves the Day is okay.  I like their older stuff better.

I went to a metal concert last year with my friends.  We didn't drive but took the greyhound.  The circle pit was crazy.

They don't even know it's emo. They just equate concert as trouble as they know I'm not going to see something like Clasical.

Idiots can get rowdy at any concert. I saw Tom Cochrane and people were getting out of control. Tom Cochrane:| It's normal for parents to worry about that type of stuff.

I'd recommend going to a Slayer concert. Much safer and well organized. Your parents will agree without question.

They're right, back in high school we did stupid things in a car we shouldn't have. But the driver was responsible, i think they are overprotective. I'm going to a concert tomorrow BTW :D

I think it's a fair call. From your parent's perspective what if they let you go and for whatever reason your driver crashes and you all die?

Kinda sucks but better safe than sorry.

your parents need to chill out. who cares that you're gonna smoke pot and get drunk at the concert, get a chick pregnant in the bathroom, and get arrested for drunk driving... live your life man!

I'm 18.  My friend is 18.  His brother is 15 or 16.  My other friend is 17.  They have all done stuff like get drunk and high before, but they don't do that very often.  I'm pretty sure they wouldn't do that at the concert or on the way back or on the way there.  the concert is 6:00 pm.  bands are Say Anything and Saves the Day.
