It's a very good speech. I'm really glad I decided to watch it (/am still watching it). Man, it's great to have a president who can actually give speeches :D.

I don't care about Obama's speeches. They are boring just like all other political shananigans that happen every day.

Just finished it, I thought it was very good as well, especially the parts on education and health care.

Saw what I expected, no specifics and just a typical campaign speech consisting mostly on hope.

it would have been a lot better without all the clapping. Every ten words he said they started clapping. It appeared a lot of them weren't even paying attention but were just there to clap. BTW if obama accomplishes even half the stuff in that speech he will be remembered as the greatest president.

Presidential speeches (almost all political speeches really) are just a bunch of unspeak and half-truths. I'll catch the important parts on the daily show. :P

I didn't watch it. I'm sure I could summarize the points of the speech without hearing it, though. Americans can't be afraid of current situation. We need to unite and work together Help one another et cetera,

.. People need to pay attention to politics more than ever, because more than ever they can directly effect you with a failing economy.. But maybe you will get the point when you finally get laid off, your interest rates out of no where go through the roof.. etc etc.

Then skim through some articles in the paper, or watch/listen to recaps the day after. You don't have to listen to some politician rant on about the same damn thing for hours on end.

Obamas speeches are okay to watch for five minutes, then it just turns into this boring garbage that stretches on for an hour. Not every speech needs to be this epic masterpiece that will be remembered for ages, although I suppose Obama is too full of himself to realise this.

The only thing more annoying than Obama is the fact that congress gives him a standing ovation after every sentence.

I missed the speech, but I've been listening to NPR's recap & discussion today.

LosDaddie

You didn't miss anything important.

On a side note; Piyush Jindal gave the Repub response after Obama's speech

Piyush Jindal: Nuh, uh....our ideas are better. Trust us

My dream GOP ticket for 2012 is Jindal / Palin. :)

In the 28 years I've been voting I've only seen 2 presidential speeches, after those two I've learned that talk is cheap and it's actions that count. He's proven he can talk but so far that's it.
