There are unwritten rules for circle pits I think, basicly if you go down, somebody must pull your back up.

Depends on what type of rock concert you go to, I've never heard of much trouble at rap concerts, atleast like underground real rap concerts that my friends always go to, nothing happens, so yes rap concerts are safer than rock concerts

I dont know, I never been to a Rap concert, but I always imagine some homies or gangstas shooting at the performers and then flashing their gang signs and such, but thats just me. Rock and Metal concerts tend to be crazier though, since you are dealing with aggressive music.

Rap concerts depend on the neighborhood. You can have Ice-T rapping a song saying nothing but shoot that ****** at a good neighborhood and everyone would be fine with it and just have a good time. It doesn't depend on the color skin of those attending either, I've been to all black and all white concerts both in good neighborhoods and they were both equally fine. At a bad neighborhood though concerts can get a little scary. I went to one in Newark before and being an out of towner everyone was staring me down giving me dirty looks. There were cops everywhere and it was not inviting at all. So it doesn't really matter who's playing, just where it's playing.

I think for rock concerts it's more of who's playing. some music influences pushing wich is really annoying when you're trying to enjoy a band you like.

That's not even close to true lol. For the most part people really enjoy themselves and just try to have a good time.

Yeah that's pretty much it. I decided to go into a pit one time, got knocked on my ass after about three seconds, someone picked me up, then I decided to stay out :P

It really depends, sometimes in the mosh some idiot may decide to slam you in the back of the head for no reason.... I've had good EXP at concerts though and usually everyone in the pit is nice and will help you if you get hurt to bad or get knocked down.

Most metalheads usually have this brotherhood mentality and most of them are extremely nice and helpfull. Ive never been to a rap concert but I would assume the same thing.

There are some Skinhead types though. I saw Slayer live and they were every and doing sutff like punching themselves. pretty wierd.:|

Depends entirely on the people there. I saw J5 and had a great time, but i saw public enemy and kept getting shoved and bunched by these racist guys who said white people shouldnt be there. I also went to Benicassim and saw the raconteurs, and my own friend seemed to be getting some weird pleasure out of punching the hell out of people in the mosh pits. After that trip he's not really friends with any of us any more.

i've been to 3 big international festivals (15k+ visitors) and some 20 metal concerts so far (some small local one, some bigger), never seen any trouble ever, neither heards report of any trouble (report from visitors I talket to, security guards and the police (which said that they have never seen a more peacefull event). And thats in Europe where basicly each nation hates atleast one of it neigbours and they are still all getting along with each other.

well except mosh pits, go into it thinking nothing will happen to you. It might or it might no, just don't get pissed if you do get hurt. You have gone in there in your own free will, knowing whats like. But if you fall you always get pulled back up again it's kinda a rule.

I don't believe there's anything such as a dangerous concert. Every show is safe, you have to know where you stand and what to do, do that and you'll be fine.

Depends on the band and genre of rock.

However just stay out of the pits. I suggest not to go to any Black Metal concerts either...unless you want goat entrails flung on your face.

You know...like the insides of a goat? Goat intestines, stomach, liver, etc. They have a habit of cutting up goats and spearing their body parts on things or licking the bleeding neck and stuff. I don't know if they still do it though.

I've been to one Black Metal concert and hell it was extremely violent, haha. Still very exciting stuff, though. Anyway, even when going to a Black Metal show, if you don't want to get hurt, you can always go to the back and still see very well from there.

You should also be careful on not to try and touch any member of a Black Metal band, they might just end up beating the hell out of you.

I've been to two rock concerts and a full blown Metal concert seeing Opeth and Between the Buried and me. And during the Opeth and BtBaM show there were 3 mosh pits going but nothing rough. Just a little shoving around know one getting hurt. However I did see a guy with a bloody nose at the end of the night. I don't know if it was due to a mosh pit or what. Opeth had a less rougher crowed then BtBaM did but BtBaM really wanted the crowed to go rough.

The other two shows I went to were nothing compared to that. I saw Bright Eyes andit was a little rougher but at least know one got stabbed or shot that night :P.

lol rap concerts not violent...i went to see wu tang clan, in NYC and here are the acts of violence.

1) one fight in the line in which a guy was knocked out and his face was swolen up.
2) a fight in the crowd bad enough that they stopped rapping and reakwon had to tell the crowd to have respect and not fight.
3) my friend threw a cup of beer at some dude and they almost threw down
4) we almost hit and killed someone with our car on the way out causing a huge rukus outside in the parking lot. he threatend us with death lol.

i saw a video of sticky fingaz blasting his glock in the air on stage and telling the crowd to beat up a guy. so yea unless ur in the nice part of town a hip hop show is a crazy place to be.

and whats wrong with a nice wall of death? it's like someone is forcing you at gunpoint to join in, if you don't want to, don't but if you do, well it's fun^^

don't tell about stuff you don't understand, as soon as you fall down in a mosh pit it's stops around you and someone (most of the time atleast 3 people) are going to help you up.

Well the rock/metal shows I've been to have all been pretty good and not too violent. And like some others have said, most of the people in mosh pits are really nice and pick you up if you fall or something, but theres always one or two that get drunk and go in there with the mentality that they're going to hurt someone which sucks. My worst experience wasn't even really that bad, I was at a Dropkick Murphys show last month and I was on the floor, (pretty close, but not to the point of suffocation...I was comfortable and was able to see.) and all we wanted to do was stand there and jump and sing or whatever, and all of a sudden this little sweaty guy comes over and decides he wants to start bouncing off of people and it kinda ruined the song since we had to deal with him. (Although it was very sweet how he was dealt with a huge 6'5" guy knocked him the **** out with one punch!) But that really wasn't that bad. However I don't go near mosh pits anymore since I've heard horror stories where some psycho stabbed people with used hyperdermic needles, and other stories where people have been stabbed with knives.

Depends what kind of rock, soft rock then its safe and you just you know do what every else does, but at a death metal concert its a different story. I remember once a girl was crowd surfing and when she got to the front no bouncers caught her and she fell on her head and split it onpen, also the pits are violent but you can just stay away unless one opens next you you..

For the most part rap concerts are safe and you have a much greater chance of getting hurt in a mosh pit than you do at a rap concert. I've never seen any trouble at any of the rap concerts I've been to.

On the otherhand this rapper Plies was performing at a nightclub in my college town, and members of his entourage shot their guns into the audience.... but that's pretty much an isolated incident...
