Replying to your current topic "Are there any intelligent comedians?" I would say Eddie Izzard to be a very funny and intelligent man. A lot of people will probably say the late George Carlin, I haven't heard much from him yet but I don't find him that funny, he just seems to be rambling on and not really making any jokes, at times it's funny but I don't care for that style of comedy, though his sort of "**** yo thoughts!" attitude is quite amusing at times.
I would say being smart would be quite an important part of being a successful comedian relating to topics and putting a spin on them... I like Frankie Boyle.
George Carlin, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Lewis Black, Dave Chapelle(although I've heard him say things that were definitely not true, common knowledge kind of things). Anyway, I'd say no one comes close to George Carlin and Jon Stewart. Both extremely intelligent, and very funny.

i don't think chris rock is very intelligent. all his jokes are racist, and while i enjoy racist jokes, a lot of his don't even make sense. in his most recent special he said "there's not a white man in here that would switch places with me." bull****.
