I'm 30 years old and I don't have a freaking JOB! its driving me NUTS. I guess the only reason i made this thread is cause MISERY loves company i suppose. So is there anyone else who is caught up in this economic mess? If so, how do you cope?

Tough luck mate.
Still... messing around in -67 degrees also sucks (I live/work in Vostok, Antarctica).

do you really work in antarctica? and if you do what do you do down there?
Vostok outpost. I study many things there, like plankton, ice cores (rarely) and other stuff (like its geography). Mostly tame.
Yep, 23 and I've been out of work for over a year. I do go to school, though, so that helps me occupy my time, don't pay for rent or food so I at least have that. THe big downside is not having money to go out and do things. I don't feel like it's such a hard thing to not spend money on games, though, as I get a lot of replayability out of the ones I own now.
how have you never been employed? do you have a disability?26 yr old gamer here, never been employed.

33 and retired! I've thought about working again but I don't know, that sounds an awful lot like work.
I am 21 and have been out of a job for a while now, no one seems to be hiring where I live. I keep applying though.

Whoa! What was your salary?
I owned a business, I just siphoned whatever I wanted. Then I sold it and retired.

Congrats on the success, but don't you get bored? Maybe you should do some volunteer work in your free time (the fun kind of course!)?Congrats on the success, but don't you get bored? Maybe you should do some volunteer work in your free time (the fun kind of course!)?SephirothsAngel
I did some volunteer work for a few schools before I moved to Tennessee, and just haven't got back into it. I'm kinda rural right now, too.
And yes, I do get bored. That's why I've considered working again. But it's nice not having a schedule; I can get up and go to bed as I will.

Sounds like you have a good life! I hope to be like that someday :pSounds like you have a good life! I hope to be like that someday :pSephirothsAngel
Just because I'm retired doesn't mean I'm rich. I really really have to watch what I spend. I have enough money for a few small luxries, like a gaming PC, but I can't buy a yatch or anything.
I'm not a very material person and don't require much to keep me happy. I've made it to a comfortable position, but a lot of people wouldn't be happy being where I'm all.
It's all about what motivates you, and for me money is just a means to an end, not something to obsess and judge yourself over. I have enough to get buy and a little extra, but that's it.
Yeah, I got laid off a couple of months ago. I have, however, been getting some response during the past couple of weeks...finally.
Yes, I'm 24 and unemployed.
A significant part of the problem is that the only thing I'm good at is music, and it's difficult enough trying to get a job involving music when there isn't a global economic recession going on, let alone when there is.
22 and unemployed,i was made redundant in late febuary as place i worked went abroad as they could pay them in peanuts. Then 2 months later my lung collapsed for second time in a year(exactly 1 year in fact, first on good friday then following year on easter sunday),while waiting in hospital for operation I caught MRSA among other infections and was discharged with a half inflated lung.Doctor put me on sick expecting operation to be re-arranged quite quickly. When it became clear it wasnt to be as quick as he expected he was about to declare me fit when swine flu broke out so he extended sick leave as i was highly vunerable.Operation was set for mid august but new infection was discovered in the operation theatres so op was cancelled for deep clean, doctor gave out more sick leave as swine flu was still going.Just finally had my operation but due to many many complications(since then i had 2 major seizures and never had any in my life)my doctor expects me to be on sick for very long time if not forever. So at least i have a excuse :)
Hang in there bud, just goes to show when you think you have it bad thats when you realise someone has it worse out there. I hope you get well soon bud.22 and unemployed,i was made redundant in late febuary as place i worked went abroad as they could pay them in peanuts.

Strange I never get bored doing nothing while others seem too.... guess im just easily entertained and find ways to spend my time :DI guess I'm the same, as long as I can get by with a few luxuries, I would be happy. Not bothered about earning mega £££... I hope I end up as lucky as you someday but I think I will be working until at least late 50s with my chosen proffession which i'm studying for now...
Apparently my city hasn't been hurt as bad by the economy? Because a bunch of people I know are getting jobs easily...or is it just that most Americans are too ashamed to work hourly jobs?gamesockIf you can afford to not work, and normally make 50k a year, would you take a job paying $7 hourly? For some people, they might think having free time is worth more than earning the min wage. Not me, but some.

There are jobs out there, but people are not willing to adapt to them and try to make the best of it.
I am 19 and unemployed. Finished college in July and ever since then I am unemployed. Send loads of job application but no reply. Most jobs I look for want experience workers but since I got no work experience I am totally screwed. How am I suppost to get experience if every f*cker wants experienced workers???
Anyway getting really bored, nothing to do all day :(
