In terms of base intelligence, I'd say they're similar, but based on application, which would be affected by what you stated, I would lean towards the women.

I honestly do not know, but for a fact there are more smart women than smart men. That's why we come to conclusions saying women are smarter than men.

ok, im a man, but i believe that that is an unfair question. first of all, there are idiots and geniuses in both sexes, and it also depends on how you define 'smart'. Is it IQ, is it practical knowledge, is it Maths or knowing how to drive?

I'd say both are equally intelligent but I belive that women are more prone to actually apply that intelligence. Most men are too lazy to think nowadays...

Hmm.. Smarter.. Smarter.. I don't do my homework like a 100%.. maybe 60%. A girl in my class doesn't do anything but homework.. Ok,she might be getting a little better grades than me, but hey.. Who's having more fun?

I'm pretty sure there were studies done on this in the past 10 years or so...I'll see if I can find a link, but I think the results were put into a bell chart and it showed that women overwhelmingly fell between slightly below average to above average (so pretty much right in the middle) while men had a lot more on both ends of the bell chart (so while there are still the majority in the middle, males tend to have more in both the genius category and the well below average category).

As a result, they tend to be equal. I'll look around and see if I can find the study.

Dilligence doesn't equal intelligence. Being intelligent doesn't mean you'll do better in life if you don't work for it.

I'm a woman who consistently scores high on standardized tests. That being said, I don't believe these tests serve as an accurate measure of "intelligence" - they tend to be heavily biased towards people who think and learn a certain way.

I don't think you say x is smarter than y or vice versa because there are too many variables.

Someone posted a study concluding that both men and women underestimated their daughters and overestimated their sons - what kind of effect would it have on "intelligence" if young girls benefited from the same boost as boys? How much would spatial reasoning of young girls improve if they were encouraged into the maths and sciences? One study even argued that regular video game playing IMPROVES spatial reasoning - what if girls weren't so marginalized in gaming? Etc. etc.

Attempting to figure out "who is smarter" while ignoring social reality is futile.

True. Now both get the same amount of education. Yes, many inventions were created by men, by the smart men. Which are few.The non-smart ones just harp on it. Women don't really take much interest in inventions, engineering and such. But in general, like I said, more female are graduating, creating an illusion that there is more smart women than smart men

From a biological standpoint, both a Mans and Womens brain are exactly the same with the exception of the chemicals testosterone and estrogen. So, in short, whoever applies themselves to gaining knowledge is smarter. You should have put both in your poll or something.chandlerr_360
