in my opinion the straight story is by far his best movie, although it wasn't really his style, mulholland drive comes in second place and the list goes on with blue velvet and lost highway..and i do believe that the elephant man was his worst film.
and i do believe that the elephant man was his worst film.VaguelyTaggedWorse than Fire Walk With Me and Dune?
I suppose. All I have seen from him is Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive. I loved Blue Velvet but did not like Mulholland Drive. I guess I prefer him when he is a bit more reserved with his "weirdness".

I haven't seen Dune, but word of mouth and the knowledge that the studio had full control over it leads me to believe it ain't too great. And well, I don't see how the Twin Peaks film even touches Elephant Man; hell, its very existence is dubious, and it's barely a shadow of the tv series.
Of his work I've seen Twin Peaks (the TV series), Dune, and Blue Velvet. I loved Blue Velvet as well as Twin Peaks. I saw Dune when I was very young, and liked it then, but I feel that if I watched it again my good memories of it will diminish. I still have to see his other movies.

I can vouch for that. Dune is pretty terrible. I have a hard time watching it.
It baffled me when I learned he did The Straight Story. Seemed so detached from the type of movies he normally does.He can be good. I hated Inland Empire, and Lost Highway. Mulholland Drive was pretty good, but his best films are easily The Straight Story, Wild at Heart, and Elephant Man.

I couldn't believe Dune was a Lynch film when I watched it. It, which Lynch had no control over, was an absolutely horrible movie. Even if you watch it expecting camp sci-fi, it's s***. Elephant Man, however, was really quite good.
