Yes, but you don't have to let them realize that it is... unless it gets to the point when the back of your mind is screaming for you to embarrass the idiot.  If it gets to that point, all bets are off.  However, don't confuse the term smart@$$ with @$$hole... those are two very different things, and the latter really does suck.  In other words, don't be the latter.
