Are you able to guess people's ethnicity [to a certain extent]?

I don't know what it is, but for example when I see someone from the Scandinavian countries, 8 out of 10 I'll guess it right. When I see an ethnic German, I can tell he's German most of the time, just by his features. Same goes with countries belonging to the Former Soviet Union, English people, Italians, Spaniards, Frenchmen, Koreans, Japanese, Chinese.

I suppose it is stereotyping, but not in a bad way. I don't think of them any differently depending on where they come from.

My question here is, what is it about how someone looks that allows you to roughly guess where they come from?

For example, what ethnicity do you think the people in this picture are?

I would guess that they're German (even though it may not be correct, that's the first thing that comes to mind).

yeah I am pretty good, I am really good at distinguishing asians though (at least better than I can tell me fellow white people apart)

I am able to guess peoples ethnicity in pitch black, blind folded, with ear muffs on and one hand tied behind my back.

With people of European descent, and to some extent Asians, I can.

Ok take this picture for example. In my head, they look very distinctly British, and I would be surprised if they weren't.

I know what you mean though, sometimes all it takes is hair colour/ facial structure and eyes to get a good idea on what a person's ethnic background may be.

Not for europe too much. But I can tell from behind the race. From the way they walk or move. I was walking into target with my fiance. Guy walking hood up. I lean over and tell her: "that guy's asian" He turns around. He's asian. :)

Yes, I can tell the difference between a Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese but have some trouble recognizing Indonesian and Filipino.
