they can kill you. you have no control over what happens

I'm not afraid of them, though I admit to feeling dread on the climb up. I don't enjoy them, though. I have no intentions to ever ride a roller coaster again unless I have a good reason to.
I like riding in the first car as you edge over the first incline....and the last car is cool too to watch it go over the top...yeah I like roller coasters..the faster and twistier the better

A lot of things can kill you, but does that stop you from doing them? Riding in a car can kill you, you have no control over the car or other cars on the road, but does that stop you from riding in one? I hope not. I actually feel a bit safer riding in a rollercoaster than a car.

I disagree. You have control over a car. You can take a safer backway route with less cars that takes longer rather than the freeway. You can take precautions such as leaving 3 car spaces in front of you. Move to the next lane when someone tailgates you. Don't drive on New Years Eve. I feel safer in a car where I can control my route and when I want to move and stop, rather than a roller coaster which never stops no matter if something is going wrong.[QUOTE="GenericUser12"]

But even if you are the driver, there's still a good chance that something can go wrong no matter what precautions you take. On a rollercoaster you don't have to worry about drunk drivers or people talking on the cell-phone or other things like you do in a car. Most rollercoasters undergo regular maintenance and checkups, they're designed with safety in mind. I can understand your fear though, a lot of people are afraid of rollercoasters it's not a big deal.
I am in love with the thrill I get when riding on a roller coaster. It is amazing. I used to be deathly afraid of them, but I haven't even been on one before so it wasn't fair. My brothers forced me onto my first roller coaster, and I closed my eyes, but I still loved it. Went right on again so that I could actually look at what was happening. I went on the new Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit ride at Univeral a couple weeks ago, and it has a 90 degree climb to the first drop. I was terrified going up, but it was the good kind of terrified that I expect from roller coasters. I am really hoping to go to Six Flags Great Adventure again soon so that I can go on Kingda Ka. Last time I was at the park was years ago and I chickened out :P. I was watching a thrill ride show on some channel recently, and it really got me pumped up to go on it, and I really can't wait. So nope, not afraid of roller coasters :D.

Even if you drive perfectly, I'm willing to bet that the chance of you dying through no fault of your own is still much greater than that of dying on a roller coaster.I used to be, but I have been opening up to roller coasters over the years.
I remember when I was much younger and I went to Cedar Point, I only went on one, maybe two of it's multiple coasters. If I was to go their now, I would go on waaaaay more than just one or two coasters...
The log flume type water rides scare me more than roller coasters because of the drop at the end and the weightless freefall feeling that accompanies it.
