With the triumphant release of Toy Story 3, Pixar had an incredible track record. Their only "flop" was the still well recieved film Cars.

But then came the abysmal Cars 2, and the so-so Brave.

Now I find that my attitude towards the coming Monster's University is a lot more skeptical than it would have been a few years ago.

I feel like while there will undoubtedly be some more great films in their future, Pixar's standards have dropped a bit.  They're no longer a perfect studio.

Meh.  What do you think?  What say you??

I think I just enjoy movies to much to not be entertained by pretty much anything they give me. The only movie I had a slight problem with, recently, was the Amazing Spider Man b/c it seemed like the actor playing Peter didn't know what do with his hands most of the time. I'm really easy to please so I think Pixar is doing good.

I think they're doing fine. Although they really should make Incredibles 2.

I thoroughly enjoyed Brave, they're fine as a studio for what they put out. Though not everything they do interests me, the movies I do want to watch I still enjoy. The only of the last few films they made that I watched were Up and Wall-E, and I enjoyed both of those quite a bit, Up being my favorite. I'd only be concerned for them if financially they're not doing well, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I think we'll have to see if the last few misteps were a fluke or the beginning of a decline. Everyone thought they were goners after Cars, but they bounced back. Honestly, Brave is more worrying than Cars 2, since everyone knew a Cars sequel was going to suck anyways.

Its likely your age. Of course you liked the movies that came out 10-15 years ago more, you were who they were targeting. Pixar movies can absolutly be enjoyed by everyone, but adults aren't the target

I like Pixar fine but not in love with it. If they don't make good movies I won't watch them, won't lose any sleep over it.

No, mainly because I do not care much at all about them as I once did. Once I saw that they were just as vulnerable to terrible decisions and films as other studios the illusion of their "perfection" quickly faded. They had their 'era' or greatest, just as Disney did once or twice, but now they seem to be just like any other studio.

A little mostly for their new concentration on sequels. A Finding Nemo sequel sounds atrocious. There's literally nothing about Finding Nemo that could possibly be benefitied by adding on to the story. While The Monsters Inc. prequel doesn't look very good either at least the original film contained a universe that gave plenty of opportunities for additional films.

A little due to their recent shaky output and desire for quick bucks via marketing schemes involving Cars, Monsters, and Finding Nemo. But honestly I've always considered them more of a technical house that took almost 10 years to figure out how to tell a proper story by bringing in outside talent. As with any (now) big studio there's going to be ebbs and flows of quality and so all one can do is hold on and hope something great eventually flows out of their gates once more.

LaytonsCat

Pixar is pretty universally loved among adult critics you know. Just because they make films rated G does not in anyway detract from the quality of those films.

I enjoyed Brave, it was a change from the usual with a main female lead - their first ever - and to be set in Scotland was great. Cars 2 though was lacking, it had the potential but fell pretty short of their usual enjoyable releases. They are really churning out the movies though and it's worrying to see so many coming out in such a short space of time, if they spaced out the releases more and didn't try to release so many in such a short time then it wouldn't look like fatigue.

So far the Cars series is the only thing that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed, so I am fine with them having their one thing that is targeted for super young kids while everything else is awesome for all ages.
