I'm thinking of joining the Marine Corp, but not sure at the moment.
What about you?

I don't particularly WANT to be killed by or kill someone, so no.karristonYeah...because everyone who enlists is killed or kills.
That's a pretty stupid statement to make.karristonIt was sarcasm directed at your statement. I served four years in the army and obviously came out of it alive....and my MOS didn't require me to kill anyone.

Do they make women go to Iraq in the army? Or is it a choice?

Some people do choose to go before they have to, but for the most part you have no say where you go (from my experience.)Yeah...because everyone who enlists is killed. How is his statement stupid, and your's isn't?
Well, I didn't say that everyone who joins up gets killed, and he did. If I was to join the military, I'd always have a nagging feeling that I'd be helping to kill someone, no matter what job I was in. I'd be helping something whose sole purpose would be to kill and end the lives of others. Even if some wars have to be fought, I'd be too much of a wimp to actually kill someone. I don't understand how some people can so easily make the decision to join the military. If they were part of a support group they would be sent over. Just not in combat MOS's.Do they make women go to Iraq in the army? Or is it a choice?

The Beta ate the last words and if you read the post it says both.;)

Oh. I thought the sarcasm was hugely obvious.

Military provides many things that civilian life simply cannot.

Still, the thought of the military makes me slightly ill. I know its purpose, I know we have a need for it, but the thought of joining it...makes me sick. Knowing that I'll have to one day pay taxes to fund it is hard enough to deal with = /
I want to join the Airforce, but not only can I never join that branch, I am unable to join any brnach of military. In my eyes you are considrered lucky :)

The exact opposite occurs with me.
Im Bi-polar, and have numerous serious life threatening allergies.
Could I even join if I wanted to? ( I don't want to at all... curious)
Thought about it then I realized that I like my life and dont feel like selling my soul to a devil. Very little to gain and a whole lot to lose. balindos
Very little to gain? How do you figure? BTW you can die by not being in the military, FYI.

You should be able to, there's plenty of waivers for allergies. Not sure about the Bi-Polar thing though.

What do I have to gain? Nothing special for putting my life on the line. Yes I can die by not being in the military but that still doesnt juestify placing myself where danger is at. Just sounds dumb to place yourself where bullets and bombs whiz by. Im not telling nobody to not join, its your decision but I like to spend my time with friends and family, instead of being carted around for some one elses glory.

That's your opinion, but by joining the military, you aren't "putting yourself where bullets and bombs whiz by".

Yes it is my opinion and that is what I will stick to. maybe "putting yourself" is said wrong since some one else will place you there. I know not everybody goes to battle in the military but there is always a chance for it and that chance is already to much. I like where I live and the people around me. Joining does nothing for me, my friends or my family.
Hell no and thank God I'm not. Otherwise I'd be fighting someone elses dirty war. However, is not to say that I can't see why teens are romanced into becoming part of the military.
In all seriousness though, ya, I'm joining the Army after High School.
(sorry for double post forgot to add this in my last post)
