Are you ever "That Guy"?

Ya know, the guy at the party who isn't in the mix of things. Just sort of there because ya dont want to be stuck at home on gamespot all night.

By party, I dont mind a big frat party, just a get together of probably 20 friends.

I often find myself in this situation these days. I go to a party to have fun, but usually end up talking with one other guy or girl who aren't really in the mix of things either. We end up talking about serious stuff, like our futures or current global events and stuff. I really dont know what happened. I most certainly was never the life of the party, but people atleast used to notice I was there and called me when I left asking why.

Same here. Which is fine with me, because I've never particularly been fond of parties, anyway. :P I prefer smaller get togethers, preferably without a ridiculously large amount of drinking.

Big parties like that are generally not fun.

If parties were fun, everyone wouldn't need to get drunk at them to enjoy them, now, would they? It's like that episode of The Simpsons where Homer quit drinking and was at a baseball game and said something like, "I never realized how boring this game is." If one has to drink in order to enjoy something, I kind of have to infer that said thing is not inherently enjoyable. What do I want a hangover for anyway? Now, on top of that, most people are so batcrap retarded, boring, shallow, and/or ignorant that I really can't stand listening to much of anything they might actually talk about anyway. I guess that makes me "that guy."

Nothing wrong with being that guy. Show a little back-bone ,son. If thats the way you are than thats just the way you are. I mean talking about current world events or futures or other stuff you said is much more meaningful and intelligent than just babbling about mainstream bs like most. embrass it due make it work for you you know, mabe your just hanging with the wrong kind of people maybe find people you connect with better. Just a load of larger louts in jeans and shirts and gelled up French Crops going around with red faces, hugging each other and pretending to rape random women in a drunken attempt at flirting.

I just went with a friend and stayed glued to him. I'd never go to something like that again, it was like being at your avarage night club and It's the reason I went for an alternative lifestyle. Now if only we had one of those Church turned Gothic and industrial music clubs, full of naughty girls dressed as fairies and guys in gimp suites and goblin masks: I'll be well chuffed.

This is pretty much me. I never ever get invited - because I don't like them and my friends all know that :lol: - and on the odd occasion when I have little choice, I'm the sober, sensible guy overseeing everyone's safety. It's helluva boring.

Yeah, I'm the peace keeper at parties. Roll passed out people on their sides and breaking up fights. Earned myself the nickname "Ganji" when my friend tried to call me "Gahndi" but was too drunk too say it right. It is quite boring though, not being drunk. I just don't like hangovers.
