So earlier today I was at my friends house and we all wanted to watch a movie so I suggested we watch Amelie, and when I told them the plot they were interested but when I mentioned it was in french they all said no. It kinda frustrates me when a lot of my friends won't give a movie a chance if its in a foreign language and/or black and white, and it made me think are a lot people like this? I was wondering if the fellow OT members are fine with watching foreign movies and watch them a pretty regular basis....

I'll pretty much give any movie a shot...regardless of whether it's in black and white or color, when it was filmed, what language it's in, etc. I'm very open-minded when it comes to watching movies. As long as the plot sounds alright to me, I'll give it a go!

I often watch foreign movies, main reason is that the Norwegian movies are pretty scarse and not as large as Hollywood.

In Australia one of our 5 or so free channels is SBS which always has foreign programs on. I have no problem with watching a movie with subtitles. Sometimes reading the subtitles makes an otherwise boring movie somewhat interesting.

Great movie. Interesting to see it from different points of view, and I did like the ending.

One thing that added to that is the obnoxious laughing, which shows the interpretation is from the people who look down upon the people, I recommend you go watch Seven Samurai if you liked that a lot.... Unless you have already seen it.

Why would I have a problem with it? Most of the movies I watch are foreign, some of the best movies made are foreign. I enjoy them a lot more, not saying I don't like Hollywood movies but I prefer movies which are not mainstream since they don't hold back in any way.

I dont have any problem watching a foreign movie, I just have to be in the mood to read subtitles. Sometimes I just want to zone out to a movie.

I enjoy asian films in the original language, and has anyone seen Dragonball Z the cartoon in Japanese? So much better voice acting than the US version.

I think I enjoy watching Asian movies more than the normal stuff I see here in the States.

I just love the style that Asian movie have. Stuff like "Oldboy" and "A Tale of Two Sisters" is just amazing!

It depends. I watched The Machiine Girl dubbed and it added a whole 'nother level of cheesiness to it... good cheese :D I've also watched most of Studio Ghibli's movies dubbed and I think Disney does a great job. I can also enjoy the animation more rather than being fixated on the subtitles.

It's really tripped up, I reccomend it.

Yes. There are many good movies that people are missing out on because they are afraid of a little bit of reading.
