Just read another topic some other user created, which was pretty anti-logic. So I thought I'd start my own by posing a question. Do you support legalization? Before we get into any mumbo jumbo propaganda about it being harmful, I thought I would some information before the brainwashed can make their statement.

Facts
-Cannabis does NOT cause cancer, in fact recent studies suggest it slows the growth and lowers chances of certain cancers and malignant tumors.
-Cannabis does NOT kill brain cells. I think most people know about the studies they did to come to this "conclusion". Watching T.V. and sleeping kills brain cells. Yet no one cares.
-Cannabis is NOT addictive.
-Cannabis does NOT cause mental illness.

-It can slow reaction time.
-It can make you hungry.

I do not smoke it recreationally, although I have smoked. I am 100% in support of legalization, as is most everyone I know nowadays. Please, no ignorance about potheads being stupid. Some of the most intelligent and successful people I know smoke pot, and prefer it to Legal more harmful medicines.

Edit: Also many people nowadays use vaporizers instead of the traditional means. Supposed to be a 'healthier' smoke.
Edit2: Person below me was asking for a website. I did a simple google search "Facts about marijuana" here is one of the first sites. http://www.drugpolicy.org/marijuana/factsmyths/#psych Please. If you really wanted an unbiased opinion you'd do the research yourself. Like I have.

Firstly, can I get some non-biased sources for them facts? Secondly, I don't think it should be legalized due to our society not being able to "handle" such a narcotic being marketed yet. Thirdly, why don't you people just use salvia? That stuff's legal and can be "fun" : /

i support full legalization. taxation, ending the drug war, reducing gangs are my main reasons for supporting legalization. whereas i think tobacco should be illegal. not really, i believe everyone should do what they want as long as it doesn't hurt others but why is tobacco legal and not marijuana? it's much more harmful.

I'm guess I'm vaguely in favour of legalisation. People should make their own choices. As far as I'm aware cannabis does contain carcenogins though.

Just saying, people are always complaining that drugs are "bad", yet alcohol is "good" when there are legal drugs out there that have narcotic effects.

Weed can also cause paranoia and anxiety. Really depends on the strain you're smoking, your state of mind and your personality.

I know of some academic research groups that have studies salvia and they've stated it's one of the worst trips you can imagine, but it doesn't linger. Short, bad and done.

It makes the most sense to make it legal, and tax the heck out of it.

I'd only be happy with complete legalization. Considering most prescription drugs are infinitely more harmful than cannabis ever could be. However I do agree. It is illogical to think we could go from illegal to legal just like that. Decriminalization is indeed the first step. Baby steps.

It's a hallucinogen, and isn't supposed to be a "party" drug, but so long as you understand what you're getting yourself into, it's not that bad. I guess you could say, you get accustomed to it, and you can still have quite a bit of fun with it, or use it for a "spiritual experience". I really don't think it'll reduce gangs...most of them are selling harder stuff than marijuana anyway, and those who aren't would just move on to selling the harder stuff.

(Unless you mean legalizing everything from Crack to Heroin, but that's a whole different issue)

That comes down to personal interpretation. So long as you stick to low-caliber blends (around 5-25x), the experience isn't too screwy. I find the problem with salvia comes more so from the context that it's being used (ie. people go to house parties, take a hit, then freak right out rather than attempting to consume it in the comfort of their own home with friends, and experiencing it in a controlled environment, especially when it's their first time).

I suppose it should be legalized. I would not want to smoke it though. In this country no matter what legal or not legal people will still get their hands on the stuff. Maybe if it was legal it would cut down on the crime around it, I don't know. This is one of those things were it could make things alot better or alot worst.

id say salvia is worse than weed because you can do harm to yourself while using it . the reason its not illegal is because its a somewhat new trend that isnt too popular yet. there is no special reason that its legal but weed isnt. some ppl are actually trying to get salvia made illegal. just cuz weed is illegal dosnt mean its bad or naughty. people need to look past what the government says, as if its the truth or the final judgement. also salvia dosnt last long at all, so it cant really be used like weed. and i doubt ppl would take it over and over. it seems to be a once a time deal.

Don't care either way, to be honest. It's already decriminalized here in small amounts, so if people want to smoke it that's fine by me. As long as they do it somewhere I can't smell them. Catch me ten years ago and I'd care, but I don't smoke it any more.

It's possible. but the fault lies in the government and laws. Laws that punish people for doing something that is for the most part innocent. If I smoked for recreation I'd be a bit paranoid to, what with the state of our government, treading over peoples rights and looking over your shoulder.

Type "which strains for paranoia" into google. Funnily enough, it's not anti legalisation propaganda you'll get but lots of 420 sites with users looking for a low paranoia smoke.

Actually it's called TRUTH. With the invention of the internet, we can spread truth faster than the government cant spread propaganda and lies. That is why their is such a rise in support of Legalization. People aren't as stupid and gullible as they used to be.

i wouldn't say it was "just like that" there were quite a few years of bootleggers and fighting over it before it was re-legalized. that being said, i think it's totally possible for pot to be legalized, just not plausible at all. at least not in the US. too many politicians taking bribes from drug co's saying "don't legalize it, if you do then people will realize they don't need all these other drugs to help them, just this 1 good natural one and we won't make as much money and we won't give you any of it"

my way of looking at this as a whole is - people should be free to do whatever they want, as long as it does not harm or put others at risk.

if you smoke mary jane in your house, you are not harming anybody. the only risk is if your driving. now alchohal has the same risk, and it is legal

. weed is harmess other than the fact that if you drive, depending on the side effects you get ( time stops for me and i get sleeply so i cant drive) you should just be responsible enough to choose not to drive while high.

id say salvia is worse than weed because you can do harm to yourself while using it . the reason its not illegal is because its a somewhat new trend that isnt too popular yet. there is no special reason that its legal but weed isnt. some ppl are actually trying to get salvia made illegal. just cuz weed is illegal dosnt mean its bad or naughty. people need to look past what the government says, as if its the truth or the final judgement. also salvia dosnt last long at all, so it cant really be used like weed. and i doubt ppl would take it over and over. it seems to be a once a time deal.

That, in my opinion, is probably the reason why it is legal, and weed isn't. Not a lot of people do salvia, and most of them that do do it have a general idea of what they're in for, and put themselves in a lockdown situation where they'll be safe under the trip is over. The problem with weed being made legal, is that it's use is so widespread now, that it'd be extremely difficult to regulate it, as well as inform people of it's proper use. It's actually kind of sad that responsible users have to suffer the consequences of some careless stoners, but such is life : /

yes i am for the legalization, though i believe we have to take small steps in order to get there. i think it's illogical to think we can go from it being illegal to legal just like that. i'd be happy with decriminalisation.

Why would that be illogical? Alcohol went from illegal to legal just like that.

well many people today that are opposed to the legalization of marijuana still have the Reefer Madness mindset, and while i really can't say for sure, i don't think it was quite like that during prohibition. but maybe i'm wrong, i don't know. i just think with so many people still believing that marijuana causes schizophrenia and stuff like that, making it legal to the same extent as alcohol isn't a realistic expectation for the near future.

Hey, good luck man ^.^

its quite easy to do in cali, my friend has already done it. all you do is go to a " mary jane approved doctor" - a doctor that is chill pretty much. and bring a medical record from your normal doctor that pretty much has confirmed that he has heard you say you have one of the many "chronic " diseases. then you get your prescription from the chill doctor and bam you have your licence, walk into a dispensary. and now since you cant get arrested from buying from a dispensary... its all cool and the gang ;)

you'd regulate and inform the same way you do with alcohol and cigarettes. the warnings would be far less severe than either of those two. basically "long term use can be detrimental to your health" & "do not drive or operate heavy machinery"

i wouldn't say it was "just like that" there were quite a few years of bootleggers and fighting over it before it was re-legalized. that being said, i think it's totally possible for pot to be legalized, just not plausible at all. at least not in the US. too many politicians taking bribes from drug co's saying "don't legalize it, if you do then people will realize they don't need all these other drugs to help them, just this 1 good natural one and we won't make as much money and we won't give you any of it"

There weren't gradual phases of decriminalization at the end of Prohibition.
