nope, probably just a moment of silence to reflect on the occasionLanceA63

yea, I lit a few candles today to pay my respects to a few people I knew lost family members, but thats about as far as it goes for me.

Though I did go to sleep last night and wake up today knowing it'd be 9/11 and I do feel a bit sad.

When you forget all the politics, conspiracies, and polarizing it did, in the end 9/11 is just a horrible, horrible tragedy, as are all other terrorist attacks big and small

[QUOTE="cpo335"]

[QUOTE="raven_squad"] Which is basically my point. Countless people lose their lives in massive attacks around the world, and yet once it effects America its the greatest tragedy and must be relived annually in the form of online videos? raven_squad

You're an extremeley selfish person. I can't believe you're actually saying that. 9/11 is arguable the worst attack on American soil in modern history, and you're basically telling it to **** off. Telling the people who died, who risked their lives, and who continue to die/risk their lives in the name of America to **** off. We mourn today because it directy affected ALL of us. Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Japs can mourn that. It happened to them, not us. Not U.S. We mourn on Dec. 7 to pay our respects to those who died. What you're saying is disgusting, unpatriotic, and selfish. I can't believe you.

Wow, words can't describe how stupid that was. :lol: I never said that 9/11 was anything less then tragic, not even once. But... I'm not going to pay it an overwhelming amount of time mourning it just because it was on American soil while all of these other tragedies go forgotten. Oh, and the term "Japs" is considered offensive, and a racial slur...

I agree there are so many other tragedies in the world, people are dying nearly everyday in africa?

where is the condolences for em, yet some folks are still so concern about 9/11 but not the other tragedies :|

you cant ask an average joe not belonging that that country to cry for Africa

but you can ask an African, descendents of Africans, and politicians and activists involved with Africa

not trying to be harsh. And certainly not being disrespectful; I agree that what is occuring over there, and all over the globe, is horrible.

Just saying that, as an American, I dont expect anyone else to really mourn 9/11 except Americans and others brought into the tragedy. Conversely, I dont mourn the bombing of the train station in Madrid but I dont shrug my shoulders and go "who cares?" either

I caught a tribute program on TV the other day that was basically a collection of footage (both from civilians caught in the panic and genuine news footage). Some of it is still shocking to this day.

I watched tribute ceremonies to the victims this morning, but it pisses me off how each yeah MSNBC shows the footage as it happened, so I watched CNN.

[QUOTE="x-2tha-z"]I can't believe some of the comments that have been posted in this topic. It's disgusting that people can suggest this event doesn't matter because it happened eight years ago. The 9/11 attacks should never be forgotten. The people who died should be remembered and the bravery of those who tried to help should be honored. I watched the attacks on the towers and their collapse live on TV in the UK on 9/11 2001. I've never been to America and I don't know anyone who lives there but what I watched on tv that day had a big impact on me. To this day when I see footage of the planes flying into the buildings or people falling from the towers or the towers collapsing, it still has a very powerful impact on me, as much today as it did in 2001. No, I wouldn't say the event has got "old". Some of you should show some damn respect. Almost 3000 people lost their lives on that day. I don't think it's too much to ask to take a day or a moments silence to remember what happened, to remember those that died and the family members left behind without as much as a body to bury.raven_squad

Do you dedicate April 19th to the bombing committed by Timothy McVeigh? How about August 6th and 9th with the dropping of nuclear weapons on Japan where 220,000+ people lost their lives instantly?

Japan has ceremonies for the victims of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings every year 0_0
