Do you mean like indie music lovers? as in independant music scene? because I love that music scene :Dlobodob
yeh thats what u mean. yay for indie music. do you tell people about the bands you find?
music isnt everything, a big part, but not everything;
Indie kids are witty, intelligent kids that wearvintageclothing and like to differ from the norm.Indies are generally happy people, mainly because their music makes you feel like spinning around in a cirle while a smiling man in a white suit throws confetti at you. Indies are very un-emo due to this, and are constantly waging a war with the emomasses due to the fact that emos stole Converse. They also hate top 40 music and wont share their music with anyone.
EDIT: off urban dictionary

Well, I actually dont like the songs I listen to being on the radio either, but I like spreading the word of the actually good music that indie bands make. Elitist indie kids piss me off though :P (The ones who belive their music/style is superior to everyone elses)[QUOTE="FatChuwawa"][QUOTE="lobodob"][QUOTE="FatChuwawa"][QUOTE="lobodob"]Do you mean like indie music lovers? as in independant music scene? because I love that music scene :Dlobodob

I just dont like people listening to the same music as me because then its not unique anymore. I dont care what other people like. Im not going to say its bad because they like it. I dont like it when people say my music is bad.
yeh i just figured that if you tell people, they tell other people and eventually ends up on the radio:evil:
@ fatchuwawa
there really isn't anything wrong with more people enjoying the music you listen to. But I understand the feeling of losing that "unique to only me" feeling. I don't really let it get to me. Sometimes it's fun to predict which band will get pretty big eventually.
I remember hearing some early stuff from Linkin Park and thought to myself "well these guys are basically going to fit with the Limp Bizkit crowd". Well I guess I was right.

No, I'm not indie, and never will be. I despise most indie kids with a passion, other than the few that are my friends.

So you don't like it when hard-working bands get popular?
And suddenly, if other people are listening to it, it's not unique anymore? So in other words you just listen to something different to be different and don't give a crap about the musicians or music.

if i could roll my eyes any harder they would literally come out of my skull.
this attitude is so frustrating. so, if you went to see your favourite band perform, you would go to the show by yourself and would be happy if you were the only person who showed up? i find that hard to believe.
anyone who thinks the band(s) they like doesn't want to get known is deluding themselves. they might not want to be as big as U2 or Radiohead, but I bet they'd like to be famous enough to not have to work a second job.
it makes me happy when i see a band i like doing well.
when i heard Gogol Bordello on a video game commercial this weekend it made me happy to know there were people out there who could appreciate their awesomeness, not sad that they are "no longer mine."
but that's just me.

Aye. When I heard Explosions in the Sky got a contract to do the music for Friday Night Lights, and for a few car commercials and movie trailers, I was really happy for them. They worked their behinds off to get where they are, through songwriting, touring, and enduring crappy part-time jobs.
If Animal Collective or of Montreal hit the top of the charts, I'd be really happy for them, and for the state of the music world.
I am a big fan of the "stay away from mainstream" ideology. And the music is good, too.
Also, to the OP, i'm not completely sure about this (as i know near to nothing about them), but you sound more of an hipster than an indie fan, eh.
I consider myself human.
I listen to some indie music, not very much.
I've been listening to lots of pop/punk/screamo lately, very catchy and decent lyrics.

Yeah, I'm just wondering if i'm really indie or a pretentious indie yuppie! I've been pondering this question for years, and I strive very hard to maintain a "true" indie image. Oups, I forgot that I'm never supposed to actually stand up and proudly boast about being indie.
No, really, it's just a subcultural label for people who believe that they're sooo independent, original and interesting - for frustrated people who want to act out their frustrations trough elitistic behaviour, putting to much emphasis on being too damn "different" amd shunning everything that is common and popular just for the heck of it. I'm not saying it's a bad thing to be different, but indie kids are just silly in my eyes.
But "indie" as an art ethos - to be creative and to be real to oneself, to do what one wants to do, rather than to be some corporate puppet who is creative on demand and who is exclusively in it for the money - is sensible. "Independent" bands have released some really good music. But some people just take this idea of independence too far, and believe that they are independent from society, while in reality they're just a small subculture co-existing side by side with everything else - that they dislike, but can't do anything about by just being indie but reject it and refuse to have to do with it.
well im not that indie. Well im into graphic design, photography, indie music (of course).
its not that i dont want the bands to do well, they deserve to do well. just once its on the radio, it gets over played and then the whole country is listening too it.
I wouldnt want to see a band by myself, with other indie fans.

Funny shirt.
It's alright to be a little selfish about bands you like (trust me, I wanted to murder everyone who screamed/yelled out mid-song during the Explosions in the Sky concert I last went to, for not respecting their stuff enough), but chances are the music you like won't be radio material, and if it is it's college radio and that's an extreme minority audience that's horrendously fickle.
