Not really, especially since they didn't conclude Del Toro's version. I didn't really like the sequel(Golden Army) but I was looking forward to the 3rd film.
I'm bummed that I never got to see the third film either, but what's the alternative here?
It's been ten years and Guillermo del Toro hasn't gotten around to making the third movie. Neither Hellboy movie did very well at the box office, and supposedly Del Toro wanted to go big budget on the third film and wasn't willing to settle on a lower budget.
And if we're being fair, Del Toro doesn't exactly have the greatest track record for finishing projects that he starts. **cough**The Hobbit**cough**
So, there are three options here.
1) No more Hellboy movies ever.
2) Give Guillermo Del Toro a shitload of money to finsih an trilogy which the last installment was made TEN YEARS AGO, and with both movies doing pretty crappy at the box office. And then hope that Del Toro actually finishes the movie instead of moving onto one of his shitloads of other projects instead.
3) Admit that the "current" trilogy is dead and has been for a long time, take the property in a different direction and reboot it as something that's hopefully actually going to make some money.
Again, I really wish I could've seen Hellboy 3, but Guillermo Del Toro had ten freaking years to find a way to do it. If it hasn't happened by now then face it: it's dead. So the only REALISTIC options here are to not do ANY new Hellboy movies or to get new people to do a different take on the material.
