I'm just interested to see how people will respond to this question. Mind you, this is not limited to politics; it can also be related to lifestyle.

Conservative, because I think the best way for people to get the things they want and need is to provide it for themselves, and not have the government provide it for them.

I consider myself a reasonably moderate liberal. I don't think conservatism is a particularly realistic ideology. I don't think there's as much of a capacity for pragmatism in conservatism as there is in liberalism.

Also, I view how one's treats others/helping others/caring for others/alleviating human suffering as the highest moral imperative. While I'm sure most conservatives care about other people, I don't think the political ideology concerns itself with that and that is why I tend to not care for it (though I respect some things about it).

I also think that people should work toward improving society, which is a concept that is anti-thesis of conservatism IMO.

Socially very liberal, economically moderate. I try to be open-minded when it comes to economic policy but I have zero tolerance for social conservatism.

Libertarian. I used to identify as conservative, though I always leaned to the left on select issues, but I can't any more now that I've become so socially liberal. I still lean rather heavily to the right when economic issues are concerned, however.

I don't have an opinion on economics because I don't understand that at all. On the social side, I'm left leaning because most of the alternatives simply don't make a lick of goddamn sense.

I am a liberal person. On the economics side, I'm a fan of the Centre-Left. I think radical free market economic theory is rubbish. I would happily beat one out to a picture of Keynes and Roosevelt making soft tender love.

Conservative. I don't want a government telling me what to do. I don't believe in pure democracy though. A pure democracy can be mob rule and that will do more than harm than good. People need to elect the proper candidates and vote for the right laws. I support in a Republic form of government.

People's idea of conservative is quite varied. I think the American view of conservative is also quite different to the British idea of conservative in terms of politics.

Moderate conservative; I believe people can provide for themselves far better than the government can, but I also believe that people should be given help toward achieving that independence.

Britain's government is far more liberal than ours to begin with on pretty much any non-military issue.

Dear everyone claiming a moderate stance as a matter of principle: 'moderate' is an entirely relative term, and to someone in a different country with different political norms you are every bit as partisan as those you try to elevate yourself above.

Well, we have a large proportion in the working class, a small amount in the middle class and a fair amount in upper working class/upper class. Taxing the wealthy more heavily to try and even out the economy is the most sensible solution since free market economies have a tendency to allocate greater amounts of profit to the upper echelons of society.
