Do you make sure that the file details and album art for all of your music is correct? I do. For example, about a month ago I purchased a Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 from Amazon (it's awesome) to replace my broken Zune. When I downloaded my music to it, the album art was all screwed up, so I used an App on the device to assign the correct album art to all of my music. The App can automatically find the album art for a particular album, but usually the resolution is pretty low, so I manually searched for the album art for each album and selected it with the app. Do you do things like this or do you not care?

I use a program called music bee in which I organize and play all of my music from. I ensured all the tags were correct and then I organize into playlists.

But of 'course. Not trying to swag flag, but I keep all my music on an iPad. It's nice going through the library with all the album artwork. :)

This

Organizing became a chore so I stopped. The Albums are organized but all the album covers are lost which is pretty weird. The songs have the right names but since I downloaded some of them from youtube (since iTunes doesn't have all the songs), I didn't bother to change some of them so the titles sometimes have the album name, artist, and then the song name.

I tried that once, but Winamp+ipod(refuse to use itunes) decided to break all my fixes once I transferred it back to the ipod so I gave up. Also incredibly tedious through Winamp, having to go through each individual track instead of assigning something to the whole album.

It's still organized correctly, correct order for artists/albums/date/tracks.

One thing I must mention is that I've used both iTunes and the Zune software and the Zune software is miles better. It's extremely easy to assign the correct album art to your music.

Yeah, and I also hate when you have the album artwork and it won't add by it's self. Everything has to be done manually and since like you said, iTunes doesn't have every song you have to find artwork.

Yeah, I'm usually pretty meticulous about it. I do, however, have quite a bit of music outside of iTunes (my primary music player) that I don't bother to sort.

One thing, vaguely related (very vaguely), I hate that my iPod (nano, some generation, who cares) says "Now Playing!" when I touch that wheel thing, instead of the damn time. Yes, I know that I have music playing, I can hear it, how about giving me the time?

Indeed. I make sure to get all the album art for my music. Also, I don't have any loose songs on my ipod. They're all in their full albums.

Good music is organized. [/elitist] I have minimal organization. My organization is basically Last Name, first name in the composers field. (ex. Beethoven, Ludwig Van.)

I use a Sony Walkman (shaped like a USB stick) because its so simple. But the only thing I dislike is when you have the artists name, then within that the album title (which is fine so far) but then in the album folder each song has the album title infront of it, so when I look for a song I have to wait until it scrolls along. Why can't they just leave the album title out of the song name, I mean, if I'm listening to Metallica's And Justice for All, it looks stupid to have the album title as well as the song name, like "And Justice for All - And Justice For All"

I keep it organized because it makes it so much easier to find a particular song by a particular artist. I try to keep my albums with album art too because it makes navigating a little easier too.

All my songs have the basics, like artist, album artist, song name, genre, song number, decent sized artwork. But I also tag each song for easy sorting, like subgenres and mood, country/state of orgin, and other keywords, I use grouping for record label, and I have a million playlists (I think I'm addicted to making playlists) and smart playlists that control what goes on my mp3 player in my attempt to make a perfect radio shuffle of songs for me. It's an obsession of mine.

IdioticIcarus

I'm almost to this level; I dont do playlists often and i dont tag each song uniquely.

I use Media Monkey because theres several automated and scripting features for file organization that are pretty nice including auto-arrange files to a specific folder structure, embed or extract album art in several different ways, non-destructive volume leveling, proper case renamer, and a bunch of other tools.

I also use albumreminder.com with a list of all my bands and it'll e-mail me when a new album comes out.

The organizing is a pain since i need to keep compatibility between Windows Media Player, Zune player, iTunes, and Audio Galaxy.

on the shelf they go:
albums go alphabetic by band, albums from each band go by release date oldest to newest

on the computer they go:
all the information the comes when the CD is uploaded / alphabetic automatically
try to keep genres to general ones, something like alternative rock and punk rock will be under "Alternative & Punk", or different metal under just "Metal"
album art at least 800x800 big

full albums in the "iTunes" folder (uploaded them with that for now)
not-full albums under an "Other Music" folder beside the iTunes folder.

usually sort in the album list option, by Artist/Year

(:

I make sure to have the genre tags, the year, album art, the title of the album, song, and artist, and the obvious stuff like track numbers all correct.

Other than that I don't care too much. I use a 160gb iPod classic and I noticed that iTunes deletes certain album art files every once in awhile. It's pretty annoying.
