Are you poor?

I just ran out of my summer job money, and it's awesome, I'm going to enjoy being poor and jobless while I can until I get to college where I'll be working hard and still poor. So I canceled my GS subscription (which I was going to do anyway), can only drive for about an hour total each week, and packing my own lunches.

How are you doing financially?

If someone here says they're poor, how are they able to video game and use the interweb?

I isn't poor, but I isn't rich.

I'm doing alright. Could always be better,

All bills paid month to month with extra money left over. Little to no debt. Have about 4 months salary saved up and food in the cupboard.

I couldn't imagine being broke.

me yes, my family no. i dont have a job or money to spend, always gotta ask parents for money and i really dont like burdening them with that but im 16 so whatever.Blitz_Nemesis

Same age as when I got my first job. It's cool. Trust me. You'll get women (unless you are a woman, in which case you will get men, unless you swing the other way, in which case you'll get other women.....) and it's neat to have your own money and do with it what you want. It's great to get a leg up on the world to. By the time you are in your early 20's you should have a firm grasp of personal finance when all of your peers are struggling.

I won't say i'm rich, but i do have a certain quality of life to not be poor. For example, i have a neat cellphone, a PS3, PS2, and lots of games. My brother has at least 100 film DVD's.

But it's rare for me to spend over 10€ on a week. Very rare. I can go as long as 4 weeks with 10€. And i spend most of my money went going out with my friends. And i'm saving since Christmas to buy GTA4.

I could ask my father, my mother, or my brother for the money, they would give it. But i don't really like to spend other's people money... i like saving for myself.

I don't value my life based on how much "money" I have. It's a shame you and many other people appear too. I'm very rich in self love.RainandSunshine

I'm afraid not. If someone asks me "Are you poor?" I will always respond No, regardless of how much money I have or don't have. Because being poor is a concept of how ones society defines social status. It's common misconception to believe that finacial value is just about money. IT is not. It's about how your culture perceives you.

Since I' don't adhere to misconceptions, and define my own cultural values. I am thus not poor. And you are as many people are misguided on what really defines the words in your society.

according to the gov poor=less then 35K/yr roughly, so in a logical legal sense people can be poor, its not a cultural value.

Hardly loaded, and am working and studying full time, but have a flat on the NZ beavch with 3 mates, and pretty much love the life a 22-year old is meant to.

Though a new GF may mean cutting back on the grog - OH NOES!

Not poor, but could always be better. But i keep expenses down and save when i can.

I may (or may not) go under the technical definition of the word (not sure what the levels are, off hand), however, all things considered, I would say I most certainly am not.

Well, my wallet is empty, but my family isn't poor at all :D
