If people would stop consuming it, the price would go down. So, I guess I should prepare huh? Luckily, I work right next to my wife.

No food. I think our food is provided by only 11% of our country. If there was no oil, how would they send the food here. If the food does get here you wouldn't have enough money to pay for it. Since people can't afford it they will probabaly rob them. Also country will go to war because countrys will start hogging the oil.

I don't know that much about this subject :P. I think Japan join Hitler in WW2 because of oil or that was one of the reasons but I'm not sure on that.

Are you aware cities existed before gasoline-powered vehicles? I think we'll be able to figure out other means of bringing in food from rural farmland.

What?! People actually survived and congregated into cities without oil as a means of fuel? Now that's just crazy talk.

I think you've played too much Crysis.

And if more manpower is needed due to this crisis you speak of, more will be found. Society will not grind to a halt. The 89% of non-food producing populace will not suddenly die of starvation.

I hope we run out of oil before the next war. It'll be more fun if it's fought with sticks and stones.

High oil prices = not enough money to spend on everything else that drives the economy. This means the dollar drops, retailer's profits fall, the economy goes to hell. But hey you have Zoidberg, you all still have Zoidberg.

I don't know that much about this subject :P. I think Japan join Hitler in WW2 because of oil or that was one of the reasons but I'm not sure on that.

The Iranian Revolution took place in the 70s (79 was it?). A number of student groups seized the capital and the US embassy due to not wanting foreigners meddling in their country. They usurped the puppet government and took everyone in the embassy hostage for over a year. I forget the name of the operation, but a rescue was attempted by (Delta Force was it?), but it failed due to many malfunctions with the Sea Stallion helicopters. It's also worth nothing that Iran's current president, Mahmoud I'manutjob (Ahmadinejad if you need the real one) was one of the hostage takers.

As you can tell, I'm not very well versed on the topic (how did students alone seize the entire US-occupied capital?! They probably didn't, so there's a big detail I'm missing), but theres a very basic part of it and a major event. The US lost control of oilfields in the country afterwards. However, the crisis in Saudia Arabia is probably more imporant (#1 exporter). I'm not really sure at all what happened there though.
