Not in the American election. :PSaugaGamesI'm not in America either. I just keep seeing all these damn Obama threads and decided to make this.
I would vote in the current US election, except I can't, as it would jeopardise my application for British citizenship.
You see, as many other countries have no problem with one holding multiple nationalities, America is one of the few country's that are so nationalistic that they do not tolerate such things. You are either a Yank or you are not! What patriotic BS from a country that founds itself on other nationalities. Hypocrisy, bogus pride, and ignorance is the name of the game.

I'm working on a page for you. Chances are they hold dual nationality with 2 countries other than the US. They may have leave to remain in the US, but they are not a citizen...

Many nations handle dual citizenship differently, even those that allow it impose strict rules on how it works...
Also the US does recognize dual citizenship. As you noted earlier, read up.

H8s, I've been struggling all this time to let my upgraded version of FF to copy and paste (old issue reborne) to no avail (yet), but trust me, I WILL overcome my current user.js file.
Anyway, without much ado, the US does allow some emigrants from certain countries to retain their previous citizenship, but as for US born people leaving the US, while the terminology is vague, they pull your citizenship as if you were a traitor, as in my case. In other words, they are lenient with people coming in, but those that want to leave that were here all along, they give the finger to.
Half of my family holds dual citizen ship with Singapore, so i don't know whats going on with you....I would vote in the current US election, except I can't, as it would jeopardise my application for British citizenship.

Anyway, yes, I will be voting. Both candidates are pathetic, but at least Obama is fun to listen to.

You came to the US from Singapore? If you were born and bred in US with no immediate links outside the country and tried to leave, the picture would be much different. This is my point.

"However, a person who acquires a foreign citizenship by applying for it may lose U.S. citizenship. In order to lose U.S. citizenship, the law requires that the person must apply for the foreign citizenship voluntarily, by free choice, and with the intention to give up U.S. citizenship."
"with the intention to give up" is misleading, as merely applying under US law implies this.
In the Canadian Federal election, yes. Definitely not voting for that tard Dion and his absolutely moronic carbon tax. Probably going to vote NDP since they have a strong presence in my province.foxhound_foxI was originally meaning American but sure I guess we can section this off into different countries. I also live in Canada but as I said I can't vote.
Nope. Neither candidate will do jack better than the other. They'll just make their empty promises, get into office, and fail. Same for the next president after that, and after that. About 3 presidents down the line, we'll start to see promising economy and he or she will be hailed as a great president. Such is politics (what a joke)Shiggums
Instead of whining, then why don't you do something about it? By not voting, it won't do you any good
Or you could vote 3rd party.
