When i say young im talking 1980s on...im sure there are older people who still depend on technology like cell phones, computers etc but they didnt always have it so they can easily transform back

dependent as needing to use electronics to function on a day to day life....You can utilize tools to your disposal its just dont you think you dont really learn as much if everythings handed to you, for example these young kids google answers instead of opening books to read and find the answer the "harder" way..studies show your brain uses more power to google than reading a book, but reading a book only uses less parts of the brain but gets smarterWhat classifies as dependent?

It's fine to use the tools to your disposal but it's a bad thing to get to involved, if we get way to into all this tech we might suddenly find ourselves without it one day and then what? What would we do since we've lived off of all these instruments what would we do in a world without them? I think for the most part we are, sadly. I think our generation would probably get our heads shoved up our arse the minute we lose our precious tech because we're too, dependent. We don't know how easy we have it...and ya never know when that easieness will one day leave us.
I agree completely. What classifies as dependent?

Utilizing the latest technology to its fullest potential doesn't necessarily suggest a dependency, but rather an adaptability to emerging innovation.

'We' would adapt, obviously. You can't plan for every possible outcome.Absolutely.80's baby reporting in.

Kill all suns uv b@#$%es. Those are my ideas.
people always use new tools that they have at their disposal. The only difference is that now they have become mainly digital tools.
ehh...maybe. It doesnt sound too far-fetched but not too sure if thats a downright factDidn't they say that about electricity?

I agree with this. Being an 80s baby myself, I remember having to walk or ride a bike to a friends house, just to see if he was home. If the technology we use now vanished, I think our nostaligia will kick in to help us cope. The 80s kids are the best "modern world" generation imo. We know about technology better than older generations, while still leading the younger gen. And we would cope better if we had to go back to "older ways".

Plus when I did get into tech / gaming it had already developed to a reasonable level - no faffing about with tapes on a commodore 64, I was straight into the era of Gameboy Colour and PS1 :P

What makes you think kids born in the 90s just sat around on the internet all day? I can't remember using the internet much until I got into middle school (around 2004-2005)... I went and knocked on the door of my friends house, and went outside, and now that you mention it I still do. I was certainly more active than my older brother who grew up in the 80s, I can tell you that much...

You know I was thinking the same thing. I didn't use internet until 03/04. I had to be in by the streetlights and went to friends houses. Never had a cell phone till I was like 13 or 14.Yes, absolutely, but how couldn't they be? if something came along that made using technology life threatening to our species, it would be a hard transition to make and we might not survive, but I suspect few of us, who have trained in many ways, would go on to propagate the species.
I would feel no sympathy for seeing the destruction of those that relied to heavily on technology to save them.
I personally think that in some aspects that certain types of technology have made their way from "convience" into "total dependence". So yes.
yes. i'm dependent upon technology to grow my food.. i'm dependent upon technology to provide clean water for me. i'm dependent upon technology to aid me when i'm sick or injured and i'm pretty sure you are toocomp_atkinsIf technology can be wielded well, for positive results, it certainly can be misused, for negative ones. People may think what they are doing is good, but that does not mean that it is. Technology does a lot of great things, it also does a lot of terrible things. And that's because people are the ones in dominon over the technology. There are many consequences that go unnoticed because technology is simply taken for granted.

I think you're too dependent on technology. Those who were around before technologies like wheels and man-made shelter are the best.Seriously, though, our ever-expanding technological advancement is not evidence of an inability to cope, but rather evidence of our amazing capacity to adapt to new environments. We're working with the same hardware that humans were working with 20,000 years ago. One's ability to adapt is hardly dependant on whether or not they used cellphone technoloty to reach friends or doorbell technology to reach friends.
Adaption and the ability to cope are two different things, I agree. But what we're saying here is younger generations (90s and onward) grew up with technology aiding them to learn, and they've been exposed very early on in their life the convenience of things like cellphones and the internet. We had telephone booths and a handful of quarters to reach people. I haven't been fully exposed to the internet until the end of middle school, before that we had the first IBM DoS and Apple Macintosh with Number Munchers and Oregon Trail. Anyone remember the old 3 1/2 floppy? You would if you were born in the 80s :P
And perhaps I might be dependent on technology, but I assure you if it ever vanished, I would last hundred times longer than the teenagers and people in their early 20's of this gen.
And btw, people that existed before the wheel are probably dead by now. Just a hunch. ;)
