seriously whats so hard to understand that Caucasian means the people of middle east and europe all together just as you could put all asians all together. Even if there clearly racial differences between south east asians and east asians like Siamese to japanese people for example. Just as there are differences in europeans to middle easterner. Obviously you life in america but your ancestory came from europe you dont have to pick one. Youre a european american. HFkami

AGREED, but its unfair that everysingle minority race in the US has a day dedicated to them but not whites (from what i ve known), i m latino and i believe that either everyone should have one or none should.i think holidays related to race is stupid no matter the race.

Hey, if you can't trust the KKK to be objective about these things then who can you trust?
There were discussions of this stuff in the African Americans for Obama thread. The idea that African Americans are only black is ludicrous. News flash, there are white Africans and brown Africans as well as black Africans. That Moroccan is as African as the person from South Africa as is the person from Eithopia or Nigeria.
That said, civil rights leaders would be up in arms if someone were to propose a White History Month or a White Miss America Pageant. While todays black youth might not care about Kwanzaa or Black History Month or even MLK day (suppostition based upon a response in the other thread), civil rights leaders still play the race card as do some people even 10 to 20 years younger than I am as seen when some math questions on a homework assignment mentioned slavery in a metro Atlanta school ended up with the resignation of one of the teachers due some parents being upset over it. Al Sharpton played the race card big time when a black woman claimed she was attacked by a college sports team and tried to hang said people but failed to apologize when it was found the that the white students were falsely accused by the black woman.
Even Cynthia McKinney, the disgraced former US Congressman played the race card when a Capitol Policeman stopped her from going through the security check point when she didn't have her ID badge and the policeman didn't recognize her. She never apologized to said officer after she hit him. She tried to go around the metal detector at the Captiol building.
I commend civil rights leaders for changing how the US works with minorities. There is nothing wrong with wanting equality for everyone (at least legal citizens, not illegal aliens). But until the race card has been put away, the equality that they sought will not completely happen and they themselves perpetuate racism, even if it is reverse racism.
Also, there is only one day in which a white man is celebrated, or at least it was only one white man, in the US as a national holiday, Washington's birthday and that has been changed to President's day which now includes a black man (or at leasth a half black man). There is no other national holiday that is directed at any white person or entity. Memorial Day celebrates those who died in wars, black, white, red or yellow for the US. July 4th is the celebration of US independence and is for all people. Labor Day is to celebrate workers coast to coast and border to border. Thanksgiving again is for everyone as well as Veterans Day, Christmas and New Years. Everything else, is something some corporate entity thought up somewhere along the line (though St. Patricks Day started in Ireland and carried over to the US when Irish immigrants arrived here in the 1700s) as a way to increase profits.

To be fair, Canada (where I live) shouldn't even need it, we never had slavery in our nations existance (IE, from when we became independant) so why do we have it and why do we need to learn it? Why not have a Slavery month so we can learn about the opression ALL races and religions went through? What about Columbus Day?There were discussions of this stuff in the African Americans for Obama thread. Yeah but what heritage you have to differ you from blacks, hispanics, natives and asians??? Asian american for example are pride of their heritage, they never will regret where they came from and celebrate it instead. Everyone of these people have their own traditional clothes, cuisines, music etc but what does american heritage has?? Mc donalds, lady gaga and cowboyheads?? I see always americans saying white people have no culture, but its only the white americans saying it. Instead to do some research and realize they came from a continent with dozens of languages and cultures. Also, there is only one day in which a white man is celebrated, or at least it was only one white man, in the US as a national holiday, Washington's birthday and that has been changed to President's day which now includes a black man (or at leasth a half black man).WhiteKnight77
President's Day is not a federal holiday. Washington's Birthday is. "President's Day" is colloquial usage and is not officially recognized by the federal government. Some individual states choose to also use the day to recognize other presidents alongside Washington, but that is purely on the state level.

Columbus Day is a national holiday (banks and governments, federal and local are closed and shut down), but more than just the US celebrates it actually. He may be considered white, but he was not a US citizen.

Washington's Birthday is certainly a US federal or national holiday. There are places that call it President's Day, but that really is not proper. Try going to the bank (or a government facility) on 20th of this month and see if it will be open (we both know that all national holidays except July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Years are on Mondays).
