Arrested Development overrated?

I like the show and do laugh at parts, but the way everyone raves on about it has left me a little puzzled.

It has a 9.3 rating on IMDB.

Does anyone else feel this show is over rated?

It's good but I don't think it's as amazing as many do. To each their own though.

Not in the slightest bit.

There is a lot of in jokes. Once you get past that it can be great but that initial impression turns a lot of people away.

Not at all (US here). My friends hyped it up to me in the months before I watched it, and even with high expectations, I was blown away. I thought it was pretty standard until the 9th or 10th episode of season 1 though--it takes some time to get cooking.Funkyhamster

While what you say is true, I still can't help but feel AD become the Kingdom Hearts of Sitcoms.

It's good but I don't think it's as amazing as many do. To each their own though.

if you don't pay complete attention to it or watch it repeatedly or on a consistent basis you miss most of the jokes. Sure you can still pick up on the physical comedy bits but most of the word play will be lost on you.

I watched the entire first season and part of the second on netflix, and it is just not funny. TonyDanzaFan

Personally I find it so and I tend to get a "trying too hard" vibe whenever I've attempted to make a go of it. But I understand why people would find it appealing so as long as it makes them happy then I certainly wouldn't rain on their parade.

In my opinon, yeah. I like it okay, but not 9.3 good. Better Off Ted, however...

I've never seen it, and don't plan to from what I've seen bits on.

You can be too dumb to understand the jokes, the double entendres, the references. The show doesnt exactly attract the same crowd that FOX panders to with such shows as the one where people compete against animals in feats of strength. Get it now?

Arrested Development is a bit different from the dime a dozen sitcoms that litter the network landscape that provide laughtracks to tell the audience when to laugh.

not talking about that, I'm talking about idiots who somehow think that their brain works at a higher level because they watch a certain television show. Just because you watch Arrested Development doesn't mean you are somehow more intelligent than somebody who watches Family Guy. People like different sh*t.

Arrested Development only had 53 episodes which was just right. Hopefully the new episodes will remain good just because they've had such a big break from it. Storm_Marine
