I actually can't stand either show. Everyone told me I'd love them, so I watched about five episodes from each series. I wish I hadn't, because I don't recall laughing a single time. Both shows go in the same category with "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and "Scrubs". That is, shows that everyone thinks are funny, but they really aren't.

Theyre both great. Arrested developement is more slapstick and fast with jokes while the office is more awkward, subtle, and much more realistic. The average working person can relate to at least a few things on the office. I can't choose one over the other.

Whoa. In my opinion, Scrubs is ok, but is much more convential. Also, it tries to be hip and moving (and sometimes succeeds at being moving). It's basically Friends without the laugh track in a medical setting, except more silly. The Office and Arrested Developement are much more unique, funny, and clever.

Watched some episodes of The Office and never laughed once, they tried so hard to be funny and failed, for me.
Arrested Dev. had some ok moments, but overall didnt keep be coming back.
Despite the greatness of the Office lately (Boom! roasted, sugar **** ) the humor in Arrested Development is unparalleled in the history of television. No other series has had more jokes per episode than AD, and the depth of the writing and the humor was without peer as well. It had all kinds of comedy - slapstick, dry humor, crude humor, everything. And it did this all while maintaining an all encompassing storyline, as bizarre as it was, it didn't rely on the writers putting the characters in absurb situations that they were put in just to provide a source of comedy.
If you don't like AD, you either don't enjoy comedy or you have no soul. Its that simple.
Arrested Development by far. If you mean the British version of the Office though I would pick that one, I don't like the American version much. Steve Carrell is not as funny as Ricky Gervais.
