Neither. Unless you are planning on teaching (English, History or Social Studies) or becoming a professor you will waste tens of thousands of dollars and years of time to find out those degrees have no real world application.
I was an Arts graduate. Five years and $10,000 (CAD) later, I got a job working as a security guard for minimum wage. Now I have been working as a truck driver (got additional training) and am making over $20/hour and doing something I love.
And gender studies is a bullshit faculty anyways.
I guess it would depend on whether or not you want to be penny-less vagabond or a broke vagrant.
But seriously, if you aren't interested in either as a vocation then take whatever appeals to you more although I doubt this is a serious question.

They need an EBT registration to go along with both of those degrees.
In all seriousness, if you are hoping to get a decent job with either of them, good luck.
Get a degree in say Physics, Chemistry or some sort of engineering.
Art is a valuable part of the human experience, but is not likely to earn you much money in the job market. Gender studies is a fake propaganda tool which will devolve your critical faculties, and your interface with reality in general. A gender studies degree will also make you no money.
So, is it culturally enriched (you dont need an art degree to enjoy art) and poor, or stupid immoral and poor?
@undefined: you have to be a snowflake to take either one. I can't figure out why so many people spend money on useless courses that will lead you know where I took computer aided design and drafting at my local college 18 years ago and now make 47 hour Canadian. Pick something employable............. dumbass.
find what you want to do first, and work backwards from there.
don't make the mistake of going to college "because that's just what you are supposed to do".
your grades will always be there, college is always going to be there, etc. Crank out a few quarter/semesters at a junior college and save yourself 10 grand while you decide.
If you are genuinely interested in gender studies or art, however, I think you should research what careers you can do with those, what kind of life you can have.

See I never understood that stance with art.. If you are actually incredibly talented in graphic design and talented in being able to produce extremely good pieces of art work.. I would think you have a career that can never be replaced.. Because it is literally used every where from marketing, to movie production, video game production, books, etc etc..
I seen people with a history degree working in administration. I know someone who did psychology and works in accounting. You could get that gender degree, work in some office in a completely different field, and be an artist on your free time.
Kinda a lot to juggle. There's nothing like choosing one field, getting specialized, and sticking to it. Your brain won't overload with nonsense.
I'm not one to take risk. As cool as it sounds to draw stick figures and call it art because of the backstory, an artist has to sell out. Design a bunch of art for marketing purposes. Drawing what you want is rare. I couldn't risk it maybe you can and you should if you're willing.

Assuming this thread is even legit (it probably isn't), I'd hazard a guess that OP is definitely not talented in Art if he has to decide between it and Gender Studies lol.
wouldn't gender studies be considered an 'arts' degree?
I did my undergrad in Environmental Geography and even though it had a lot of science-y courses, it was still considered an 'arts' degree (and was still fairly useless on its own)
if you are talking about an actual Art degree then yea both sound like pretty useless options
Honestly, with art, take my advice: NETWORK and BUILD A PORTFOLIO, and NETWORK EVEN MORE.
That is to say, you actually want to take the arts seriously and actually have a chance. You'll otherwise waste so much time in school and you'll still find yourself struggling to find a job since it's such a competitive thing to be a part of.
If you want the best of luck having success it's going to be about who you know and what you can show.
