Attention Black People

Do you find the N word offensive? I'm black and when I was little my parents would beat the snot outta me for saying that word, but now I just dont know. Everybody says it so much that its lost all meaning. To people who arent black. What do you think of the word?

I thought there were two words (according to some blacks.)

One ending with "er" and one ending with "a"... or is there really no difference?

I'm white. I hate the word. I have only said the word once. Again, lt me state that I hate the word, but I said it when I got home after being held at gun point by a black man.

It doesn't offend me but I do dislike the word.

Racism in general makes me sick.

I lol'd when I saw the topic. Something about it. Anyways, as a white person, I always feel uncomfortable around black people when they use that word. It's like, I'm was told since Pre-K that word is wrong, and is...but your gonna call each other the word Black people in America have been trying to forget about for years?

the n word is stupid, it should wither be said by all without a big problem or shouldn't be said at all by anyway, the way how it's used now is actually racist and that way black people are the first ones to be racists (but well I feel like they have to kind of the right to do this since white people did so many bad stuff to them) , I mean if we're all equal we should all be able to say that word not only some type of people, the day everyone is able to say the n word or no one says it at all we'll make a big step against racism

depends on how its used. if someone says in in a predujice,racial,bigot way then yes it is offensive, but in a joking manner i don't mind as long as its obvious humor.

Seriously, I think its overrated; not to say that it doesn't degrade people or cultures, but if a culture/group/race doesn't like a word then they shouldn't use the word either. Simply put, to use it, is to accept it. IMO

Im white, but I have black family members (yes Im serious) so I dont like the word and I never use it.

Well all it means is dumb black person, so they are just calling each other dumb I guess. Which is really not the thing they should do if they want to progress. It is a very sad situation, double standards, contradictions, and more. I think its rap music really, which I see as satanic music (think about it, jesus said that what comes out of your mouth is evil, exp. profanity).

Its the other way around. You get beat up even more for saying the "er" version because that version is considered racist. Havent you seen the incident about the white teacher that said the er version and got fired. If he said the "a" version he wouldve kept his job.

The only reason YOU (and most idiotic hip-hoppers) would like it is because of it's money-fueled Glamorization and Popularization by your precious "music," which are made possible by these major record labels, run by.......guess what?......white people.

Honestly the word has ring to it. That's why I don't mind it being used in music. Being white I don't ever use it publicly or around those that don't have that silent agreement where it's OK among us. Also I don't appreciate people who use it in public freely like any other swear word. It's an interesting word in that way.

In my country we say the N word to be cool like the rappers and stuff then I moved here in US to find out it is a very offending word.Arctic_Grillz
