From the bottom of my heart:
Thank you.
PLEASE DO NOT EDIT MY POST AGAIN. I AM AN AMERICAN AND THAT IS WHO I AM THANKFUL TO. If you want to thank Canadians, please do so in a seperate thread.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Don't forget us Brits!
But yeah, thanks to the Americans fighting in Iraq (or wherever we decide to invade next).
I thank the soldiers of the West that had helped defeat Japan in WW2,Lonelynightheck one of em is my grandpa
I thank any vets who come here, my husband who has served in Iraq and will be going to Afghanistan in the Fall, my husbands father who served in WW2 (yes his father is that old), my grandparents who both served in WW2 (my praternal grandfather earned a purple heart and silver star there), my cousins who have served, and to all the vets who have fought in any war... 'nam included. They were just doing what they were told. xhellcatxthats a lot. my mom and dad were in the airforce and i have a cousin who is in the navy and a uncle in the marines
My father and his father are veterans.
I just joined the Navy, so I don't qualify for that status yet.
My brother does though.
Yes, veterans day is today, at least it is in the US.and the british too
just wondering do you have veterans day in the US today too?
markop2003
Thank you veterans of the USA, without your service the world wouldn't be as good of a place.
Let's think about everyone that has ever dies because of war, no matter hat race or country you are from. People can still be good at heart just because they are fighting against us you knowThe_Last_Ridei dont think so
Thank you to all Veterans in both the US and Canada.
And a Thank you to all troops being deployed overseas.
*Salutes*
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep,
though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
As a royal canadian sea cadet, i salute all those who fight for our very way of life today, yesterday and tommorow
For the TC, you do realize that the only person that could have changed the thread was a moderator, and he or she did it because there wouldn't be a need for another thread. So, change it back please, the Americans are not the only ones remembering those who fought in the wars.Marksman2200
Yes, but this is MY THREAD and the intent was changed. There should be a seperate thread for a different country. My verteran's day is not to be thankful and remember any vets other than AMERICANS. Sorry.
MODS - Please do not edit this thread. Thanks!

you don't seem to have the concept of allies
i i've respect to all vets even if they're thought as as 'evil' or 'enamies', they are vets none the less

Exactly. To the TC - is it too much to ask to simply have it be universal? Otherwise it just comes off wrong to anyone who's not American.
I agree. TC, I understand that you wish for only American vets to remember, but the users of these forums come from many different nationalities. On the other hand, anyone, ANYWHERE, who has fought for their country and loved ones should be remembered and honored.
And lastly, without many of these countries veteran's we wouldn't have the country we do. Americans bash France, but without them we likely wouldn't have won the Revolutionary War. So, to veterans everywhere, THANK YOU!

Same goes for those that are Jewish and celebrate that. It's Veteran's Day in the US. That't what his thread is about. It get put off by it is not his fault. And sorry...but I'd never ever wish a happy Veteran's Day to an enemy.;)

I'm not Canadian either, and it's just my personal opinion that Veteran's Day shouldn't be so strictly divided like this. It should just be honoring vets for their service, regardless of which side they were on when they served, allies or not. They all fought for their country all the same. But I suppose we can't force that upon the TC.
So I'll simply express my gratitude to any and all veterans.
Then I suggest you don't understand Veteran's Day. Is it so hard to show gratitude for those who serve your country? They are the reason you live as you do. *shakes head*I'm not Canadian either, and it's just my personal opinion that Veteran's Day shouldn't be so strictly divided like this. I appreciate the sacrifice of America's veterans, but you can't ignore the sacrifice of foreign soldiers because without them there might not be the America that we now know.
