People gave me moderately high expectations for Inception which I felt were not met. It wasn't as "complicated" or "deep" as everyone told me... For this reason I like Avatar more, though perhaps only because I had no expectations with it to begin with.

Having high expectations not met makes McDonalds worse than a turd because I had no expectations of the later to begin with.
Let's get real here. Anything that has a lot of hype can be more a let down than if you'd never heard any of the hype to begin with. People here on GS should know that more than anyone considering the number of games that get hyped and disappoint those that were involved.
It's not an argument that Avatar is better than Inception. You can't make that argument anyways since it's purely opinion based.

They are two totally different genres, and I loved Avatar. Why are you quoting me on that? Both Avatar and Inception could be regarded as 'genre films'.

You can make objective arguments and points on the basis of filmmaking for both movies that are removed from opinion, actually.
