You could always use a watermark of your username or something. That could help. Just put in some text in Photoshop and then decrease the opacity. Pretty easy. :)
I don't know why you care, I mean I've made tons of avatars and banners and I let anyone use them. It's not that big of a deal to me.
I just use my username. People will likely save images anyway. That's just how the internet works. I don't like it when people save my work either, though, so I understand what you mean.
yeah obivious i dont have a avatar or any signature picture..... i was planning to upload my photo of me n my girlfriend.
anywayz in some websites you'll see that some pictures that have copy protection.... if you try to right click and use save picture it doesnt let you. and some avatars on gamespot i tried to save their picture it wont allow me.
so im guessing theirs gotta be a way to not let your picture be copied or saved

That has more to do with the site itself than with the picture and anyone can get passed that with a single button on their keyboard or by using the FireFox browser. As far as I know, that technique is outdated.
You can't prevent people from downloading it, just by viewing it it gets downloaded. You can put your name somewhere on it, or you can put your name as the copyright holder in the image properties.
