As of last night Off-Topic reached 10,000,000 posts since the topics were last purged in October 2006.
Let me try some math here.
10,000,000 posts occured in about 65 months (Oct '06 to Mar '12)
153,846 posts per month (actual 153846.15384615384615384615384615)
38,462 posts per week (actual 38461.538461538461538461538461525)
5,494 post per day (actual 5494.5054945054945054945054945036)
229 postsper hour(actual 228.93772893772893772893772893763)
And in every second, 3 people are telling someone that they're wrong!

We all remember that month of GameSpot's purge. I dealt with GameCenter game server creation tool, but I recall people telling me crazy stuff they encountered.
The days in October 2006 were full of weirdness. The nights had unbanned crawling around the forums and taunting people with their access to the site. The moderation histories also disappeared. But, one thing that remained since then, the forum topics never automatically purged like they used to. Gone were the days when you clicked an older topic and it lead you to a 404 page because it was purged for not being read or posted in.
