Awareness for Child Abuse, on Facebook.

I just heard of this, someone sent me a message:

What do you think of this, and also if you would or do take part, what character would you use?

I'm using Goten right now from Dragon Ball Z.

its kinda dissapointing that social awareness and grassroots activism has been reduced to something as simple and uncommited as simply pressing a button to join a group or change a profile picture. Nonetheless, awareness and dominance helps in informing the public, so I'm participating.

I was thinking about posting pedobear, but I felt guilty. So i'm doing an anatomical cross-section of a bulbasaur.

My favorite Digimon is Gomamon, but no one knows about him so I'll stick with Goten, although probably no one knows of him either...

All of that Facebook awareness crap always strikes me as really silly, arbitrary, and pointless. I have no problems with raising awareness and actually doing something about it, but this kind of stuff really just seems self-serving to me. I don't care about what other people do though. Awareness is nice and all, but yep - I think the idea of trying to raise awareness by changing user icons or pictures is silly and kind of lazy. I tend to think a lot of people do this kind of stuff just to be a part of a trend or to manufacture a little drama to spice up their day or conversation, or to seem like they care about something they would normally never give a second thought to.

Honestly, I don't understand some of these "awareness" campaigns like this one. I mean, is there really anyone who isn't aware that child abuse is bad? I can understand awareness campaigns and nonprofit organizations for things like various types of cancer but having a campaign/organization dedicated to stuff that is already agreed upon by society to be bad (like child abuse) is just a waste of time and resources.gameguy6700

This kind of thing is lame. Like when people were saying "I like it (wherever)" or changing their status to their bra color. Really productive. Just a way to draw more attention to yourself, in my opinion.

Probably is for the most part.
Something good might come out of it though, since people are able to do something very simple to say don't like violence against children, it could bring the issue to light for some people.

I don't actually use facebook, but I imagine there are at least a few people having conversations about it now; conversations they wouldn't have had if it weren't for this gimic.

Ok people jeez, obviously it doesn't do anything, but it's just a harmless, quick thing to show that you actually at least slighty are against something that shouldn't even exist. "Oh yea this is so dumb, it won't do anything..." Obviously, but what's the harm in joining along.

And to the guy that was talking about internet history and parents.... WHAT?!

I did it too. I have sick ass Batman Beyond picture. Cause I loved that show when i was little.
