Has anyone seen Babel? This is the latest movie I have seen and I do think this is one of the best movies of recent times. I think English is only spoken for about one third of the movie but I didn't let that put me off (I have watched movies completely in a different language and enjoyed). I felt it was so excellently done in terms of conveying the emotions of the different families and the situations they have had to go through. So, it kinda gives an outlook on how this world can be ****. I did also find the soundtrack very in touch with the movie - connected great

What did you think on the Babel movie, released in 2006? I loved it and I wasn't really expecting much, too.

Yes, it's a good movie, although I think it can get harsh and disturbing at times.

I agree. Disturbing some of the time but it doesn't push it too far compared to some other movies I have seen. Something likes Boys Don't Cry and Hard Candy are higher up on the scale for being disturbing.

This movie is amazing.... but you need to pay some attention to understand it.

Not for the youngsters, (nudity)

I believe Brad Pitt wanted to work on Babel as he did admire the director's previous works.

I had alot hype for the movie because of all the reviews and my brother said it was amazing.

I saw it about a month ago and I thought it was great. But didn't live up to my hype. And yes, its very disturbing sometimes.

I own it, because I like it. Plus it was only about $3.00 USD. The movie gets a little convoluted at certain points, but I still like it a lot. It makes me teary, smile and inquisitive all at once. That scene where Brad Pitt embraces his wife...that makes me tear up...can't say much more without spoiling it. Also the scene when the Morrocan police encounter the father and his two sons...that makes me tear up too. And when Brad Pitt is talking to his son toward the end of the movie. The entire Japanese portion of the movie is dark and tragic. There's a lot of heart in this movie, imho.

the acting and camera work and all of that was good, but it was impossible to like the characters, there were only a couple worth caring about.

I thought it was ok. It didn't deserve a best picture nomination. I'm glad The Departed won over Babel.

Oh, well now if we're talking about The Departed...those two films don't even compare. The Departed may be my favorite film by Scorsese...It's so unrelently brutal and honest. So great. Sorry to divert attention away from Babel, which I think is a very good film too. Just, when The Departed is mentioned...I mean....COME ON!! ;)

Good? Yes. One of the best films of recent times? No.

The performances are incredible. The script, less so.

I don't really judge movies in a stereotypical way. Movies for me can follow a script and do great. Others, don't really need to follow a script (or use very little use of a "script") and I feel Babel executes a perfect movie that doesn't follow the same trend as many other movies.

It was all right, nowhere near the best movie of 2006.
