So I've heard a lot of experiences, some of them from these forums, about people complaining about the quality of the employees at Gamestops.

So I can only ask where do you live?

Because I live on the east coast and I can honestly say of the 20 or so Gamestops I've ever been to I've never had a problem, and that 95% of the time they've been extremely helpful and knowledgeable about everything from upcoming releases to helping find older games.

So who here has had a problem with Gamestop and what's your story?

I live in the Los Angeles area and shopped at quite a few of their stores and I can say that I've never really had any problems with any employee from Gamestop.

I've never had a problem with them. Gamestop's policies are a bit of a scam.

The only bad experiences I have there are when the employees try to get me buy a 360. I tell them over and over that I don't have the money but they keep pestering me. >.>

I don't have any problems with them, a lot of times they are helpful. They just keep trying to sell you crap when you get to the register, that's the only thing that bothers me.

There's one employee at the Gamestop near here (Quebec City) who is a complete jerk, plainly lying to people.

Most of them are pretty cool, when they understand that no means no. Do they offer that extremely dumb 1 year protection plan for any game everywhere? It's the most pointless thing I've ever seen. There's a chain of stores here that offers LIFETIME protection for FREE.

I accept your challenge. (In all seriousness my wife and I were actually talking about moving to UK some day).

In New york, (not the city; the state) the gamestop here is VERY nice. I mean once, i was there to buy Guitar hero 3, so i went to buy a guitar but they said they were out of guitars for sale. But just because we bought there a lot, they gave us one free. Nice, honestly.

Never had any problem.....and much of what I've read here aren't really problems but people not wanting asked for reservations. Just say no if they ask you....though here I've never been bothered in any.

I went to gamestop today and it was a hot girl and a geeky but nice late 30s guy, both seemed really nice.

I usually dont buy physical copies of my PC games anymore, but occasionally I'll buy a boxed one for kicks and giggles. I'll be getting a boxed Mass Effect 3 for sure with the cool new cover. But most GameStops I've been to, the clerks were clueless. I went to one in Baltimore and the girl there was very knowledgable on all platforms and their strengths and weaknesses and such. Was a nice change of pace.

Yeah, no probs where I live w/ GS either for the few times I go to them (at the particular location I do frequent, that is). The sales-pitching can be annoying though, but seeing as I work in retail as well, I sympathy that it's a necessary evil they've gotta do (just I have to similar things w/ my job). Just as long as they aren't rude about it and pushy, then I'm fine. It's a shame they have such shady BS company/store policies though, as most of the people I've run into working there are genuinely cool & nice.

I had one bad experience with the assistant manager at the GS nearest me. Apparently his opinion on a game he liked, that you returned, makes you an idiot for returning it. I reported him, and haven't stepped in a Gamestop since. Best Buy and Amazon all day.

I've never really had a bad experience with them. The only thing that seems to annoy me is that they ask my parents if it's okay for me to be buying a M rated game. The ESRB should not dictate whether or not I'm allowed to buy a game :/

I work at one. I try to be as fun as possible!! As a customer, my complaint was that every gamestop employee I dealt with had the personality of a rock. A really dull, nerdy rock. Now that I work there, its all high energy!

... But yes I have had several bad experiences at gamestops. Thats why I work there, soI can make it better.

Gamestop as a store has awful policies, but I've had nothing but really positive experiences from their employees. Never once been pestered about a warranty more then the obligatory "Would you like X" when purchasing that every store does.

I hate the employees who are just ignorant on video game topics, I walked in and the guy told me "Wanna pre-order the MW3 Harden Edition it's only $100 bucks compared to previous years where it was $150" the Harden Editions of COD have always been 79.99.

Not really bad dealing with their employees but stuff like the return policy they use is a complete and total rip off. Every once in awhile I come across a condescending employee who tries to pressure me into buying something but I don't let them do that

I don't think people understand the basis of people in customer service. They HAVE TO try to upsell you SOMETHING, or they are at risk of losing their job, a mystery shopper scoring them bad and etc. So don't blame them next time they offer you something.

I've had a couple problems with the guys that work in the store next to Walmart around where I live. But it doesn't matter too much since I go to Jersey for my games.

Nah, the only problem I ever had was when I went to pick up my preorder for The Beatles: Rock Band. I had it preorderd for PS3 a few weeks prior, and when I got there, the employee told me I had preordered the 360 version. Luckily there were spare copies of the PS3 verison and I was able to walkout with the game without a big hassel.

tbh I have had nothing but good experiences with Gamestop in my small 60k-person town...they have been chill, courteous, informative, and polite. And this is coming as a PC gamer, something Gamestop apparently neglects.

only thing I dont like about gamestop is, they charge you for the gameinformer which you didn't ask for. atleast thats what they did me. Sneaky stuff like that I do not like. Infact if best buy was closer I would go there, but gamestop is like right up the street soo...

I've had EBgames employees tell other customers the stupidest of lies and just be down right unhelpful at other times, they always pester me to buy everything even if it's crap, their policies on trade in's are horrible. They don't sell PC games anymore apparently and the last time i bought a 360 game, it came already opened with a finger print on the CD and the manual roughed up, i bought a new one..

Everyone nice at the ones I've been to. The one near my place though, they take too long at the register so the lines get pretty lengthy.
