Todays band ( Well singer) of the week is John Wesley!

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=39268520

John Wesley is both a phenominal solo artist and a really good guitarist. He has worked with bands like Porcupine Tree and White Lion. All his old albums availible for free download on his website. I think he is one of my favorite musicians around. Remember you can discuss my choice or make your own choice and have some discussions about them in this thread.

Got any suggestions for next week? I am open to any but I prefer more lesser known bands. Not because I dont like the popular bands, its just that these threads are more about musical discovery.

ModWheelMood are a pretty decent unheard of... you could also try, Ladytron, or A Place To Bury Strangers... thats some newer stuff I like at the moment... or you could go for forgotten bands of the past like The Jesus and Mary Chain...

Yes, now burn in hell because your life is meaningless!

Seriously though, it doesn't at all and that's the point of this thread, to discover. I'm sure there's tons of music aficionados that don't know him.

I'm sure any Nine Inch Nails fan knows about them.:P

Older/forgotten bands is a good idea.

Some newer suggestions I have are

Fan Death
Computer vs. Banjo
Ratatat (they're a little more well-know, but still worth mentioning)

Pfff, yeah right.

Try some Radiohead or Muse is you're looking for something flawless.

Oh, and Nine Inch Nails, so Samwel doesn't have to say it.

I would also like to add in Elbow, they are like a non dpressing version of radiohead but with a more interesting singer.

I have most of their albums, they seem to be much more popular in the U.K compared to other here. The Super Furry Animals are another band I like that are pretty underrated. T-Rex were a great band too, shame their lead singer died.

Did you just pack Vertical Horizon in with Tom Waits and Big Star?

The Gin Blossoms had some good pop songs in their time, but Vertical Horizon was pretty crap.

I love Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, but I feel like everything except for Satan Said Dance was really lacking on their second album. The first is nearly a classic though, I love every song on there.

Elbow, though, is always excellent. I don't know about the rest of the world but in the US they're really underrated.

edit.

Modeselektor (not Modeskeletor) have been around for a while but they're not very well-known I think. I was front row for Radiohead (woo!) and Thom had on a Modeselektor shirt, which was really really awesome.

John Wesley is pretty decent stuff, indeed. Pretty solid choice.

As for next week.....I don't know that's your call. I know for me, it'd be a toss-up between: Black Mountain, Burial, Jens Lekman, Of Montreal and Tokyo Police Club(local band that's starting to make it big).

Mint Royale is pretty rad, although for bands with 'Royale' in their name, I'd take Port Royale over them :P

Still, solid choice.
