Anyway, I'm terribly disappointed in U2's direction.

Well I liked how ridiculous Peter Gabriel was:P I agree with U2 though. ALso Oasis, they didnt really get worse tecnically but they didnt really change their sound at all except slightly in one album. They are very overrated.
Pink Floyd. The last two albums are essentially David Gilmour solo efforts, and The Final Cut is a serious drop in quality from the four albums that preceded it, even though it is still better than what followed it.super_mario_128
I kinda liked The Division Bell, and david gilmour's solo album on an island was pretty good too.
Pretty much every band that is in it's 50's. At that point their like "aw **** it. We've got so many songs to play live lets just make a decent song so the record company is happy and we can go on tour".
My pick is REM From the start all the way to Automatic for the People they were too good. The greatness had to stop at some point.
Queen's earlier stuff was definitely better than their later efforts (except for their Innuendo album, which I love). And no, LJ, this is not open season for you to bash Queen.
And then there are the obvious choices. GNR, Van Halen, Rolling Stones, The Who... none of them are what they used to be.

I like Oasis well enough. Never been a huge fan though...But Aerosmith's still good. I will admit they were better in the 70's. But my vote's the Who. They're not the same anymore.Van Halen, Aerosmith.

I'm not really sure..possibly Guns N Roses?..
Xx_Hopless_xX
I agree, they used to rock, and what about Linkin Park? I really liked Hybrid Theory but their new stuff is meh IMO.
A lot of people might say Megadeth and Iron Maiden. But the truth is, music-technicality-wise, they actually got better. You have to listen to every single song, riff, solo, beat, etc. to say if they got worse. And it can't come from an opinion based on taste.
What bands don't get worse later on? When I hear people talking they always say a bands early stuff, they never say they prefer their later stuff.xTheExploited
Porcupine Tree have gotten better and better (not that they were bad to begin with), and have constantly sold more and more with each new release.

Just different. I love The Cure....and I prefer their older material...but I still find music I like in the here and now as well. So I'd not say they got worse....just different.

Fans tend to have a favorite era though.....but I disagree with his comment that the new music is worse. I prefer different. No recent album of Megadeth stands up to Rust in Peace (technically speaking).A lot of people might say Megadeth and Iron Maiden. But the truth is, music-technicality-wise, they actually got better. [QUOTE="Film-Guy"][QUOTE="megagene"]Coldplay. I actually liked them when it was just the first two albums. megagene
actually think their new album is their best so far, I think their formula was getting dull.
Wait, what's their latest album? Is it that Viva la Vida one?Yeah. Viva La Vida Or Death and All His Friends.

I'm going to agree and/or disagree with you two and say I never found their music compelling at all.Ahem, let me check all this wide array of bands that I listen to...
*checking and searching*
*still checking and searching*
....too many bands...!.....
....
....
ah, hereis one....
what does it read..... er.... Sc-....Scorpions. Ah I wonder how that got in here...
Hm, anyway yeah Scorpions got worse after 1988. They started trying to hard later on. They still do.

I'm a Countdown To Extinction fan myself which like you said ain't as technical as RIP. Now I remember some of that late 90's garbage Megadeth made. No issue thoguh as they moved on.

I wasn't talking about albums though. The band's music in general was the subject wasn't it?
what do you mean aerosmith is awesomeNah...he's right. Aerosmith needs to pack it in.[QUOTE="sonicare"]

me too. i was never a fan of U2 to begin with. but man, i can't stand their new stuff at all. especially since they signed that deal with sony to where they have to release new albums in a certain time frame to get more money. Rushed art and music isn't any good. If you care more about money that making good music, then don't be a band IMO.
aside from that, i'm terribly dissapointed with VNV nation's new album. they've become very commercial pop sounding as opposed to EBM.

That's just me being an idiot and attempting to derail the thread unintentionally.
