Megadeth died January 14, 2000.

Honestly, most bands see some form of a decline in quality. But that doesn't mean what they still make is no good. I always use the Cure as an example. Sure, 3:14 Dream is no Disintegration but Underneath the Stars is still a damn-good song.
Except for Queens of the Stone Age. Era Vulgaris was amazing! :D
i would have to say oasis. their early stuff was brilliant and now they're quite mediocre. still by far my favourite band though
what do you mean aerosmith is awesomeNah...he's right. Aerosmith needs to pack it in. There're still pretty good, espescially live, considering they're all50 or over.[QUOTE="crazycoogar"]
[QUOTE="sonicare"]
Van Halen, Aerosmith.
LJS9502_basic
Yes my opinion is that naturally every band dies out. Not in the sense that they must break it up but that they cant make something new and worthwhile. Then it is the time to stop or make albums more rarely and only when they got good material to show and not material that was forced to be produced by the companies or by the bands will to stay in popularity. Most bands get worse later on.
Not all bands, but most do.

I don't think there is any reason to get any album after Get a Grip but these guys do an excellent job onstage. Joe Perry's solo project is really bad though (I don't mean the late 70's stuff). It was embarrassing listening to a few of his songs while Steven was taking a vocal break.
[QUOTE="Nifty_Shark"]
[QUOTE="MocktheDead"] No recent album of Megadeth stands up to Rust in Peace (technically speaking).WushuFighter
I'm a Countdown To Extinction fan myself which like you said ain't as technical as RIP. Now I remember some of that late 90's garbage Megadeth made. No issue thoguh as they moved on.
I wasn't talking about albums though. The band's music in general was the subject wasn't it?
Oh I misread, my bad:P.
What bands don't get worse later on? When I hear people talking they always say a bands early stuff, they never say they prefer their later stuff.xTheExploitedRadiohead and The Beatles are two perfect examples of bands who have expanded their sound and matured as their careers went on.
Death Magnetic was decent. Linkin Park on the other hand wasn't even good to start off with.Definitely Metallica!
I mean, Death Magnetic was absolutely horrible.
Annnd...Linkin Park. The first two albums were beyond incredible, and Minutes to Midnight was a huge dissapointment. They totally lost their style and went all out punk rock. Sad.
TehXenoz
i hate to say this, but maybe metallicaMetallicaKingsMaybe?! They did. I didn't know it was up for debate. :P In Flames is the obvious choice. They were terrible after Clayman. Dimmu Borgir hasn't been good since Enthrone Darkness Triumphant. Children of Bodom, Xasthur, and many would argue Emperor (although I like their newer stuff) as well. Then there's other artists Opeth too has been going that direction, although it's not terrible just yet. It's just not up to par with their past material.

Idk, I couldn't enjoy any of the songs on it.
Hm, I disagree. Not the greatest band, but, they were so different. And, I loved em.
Marilyn Manson. Pre-2002, most of his work was original and good. Since then, it's gotten awfully spotty, with maybe 1 good song in every 8.

Ghost Reveries was really good though. Watershed wasn't great, but it's the only album they've put out that I don't love.
slipknot

Speaking of Slipknot I listened to Slipknot and Iowa today. I give Slipknot a 3.5/5 and Iowa 2.5/5. I love Vol. 3 and All Hope is Gone is about as good as S/T.

Really? I found Watershed to be one of their best works, I guess that's just me:P.

Actually Disturbed's Indestructible album was decent, not sure if that's their newest one though..
TehXenoz
Yeah, Indestructible was their newest album. i was quite happy with it, espeacially after Ten-Thousand Fists, which I didn't care for.
Ah, thanks...and i liked most of the songs on Indestructible where as i liked..maybe 2-3 on 10k fists...

Guess I spoke too soon...:PWut. TBA was mediocre at best, and the stuff after it was just AWFUL. While their first four albums are fantastic...Metallica's career started to get better with the Black Album, and only took off from there.

Let me guess, they reached the peak of their career with St. Anger?

Damn... it seems I'm the only one that loved Watershed >_>It feels like Mikael is trying too hard to be progressive, especially with Porcelain Heart.
Another band is Pantera. Ignoring the past (oof) let's start with the good times. Cowboys From Hell and A Vulgar Display of Power are great. Especially the latter is one of my all time favorites.
I thought they could do no wrong going forward but Far Beyond Driven was bad. A few select songs were good. The production sucked (done by the same guy bust somehow he messed up this time? How does that work?) Phil's lyrics wern't all that anymore and Dime just didn't impress on many tracks.
Actually the next two albums were better though Phil never got his **** together until the band was dead which is a real shame. Vinnie Paul also lost his mind by playing for the lamest band ever Hellyeah. Hell no Vinnie! Alchaholin Ass is exactly what you look like when you pool this kind of nonsense.
Same:DGlad i'm not the only one:D.

Eh, PH is the only song I didn't really care for, the rest was pretty much perfect IMO:PIt feels like Mikael is trying too hard to be progressive, especially with Porcelain Heart.

You didn't like Far Beyond Driven?
I thought that album was just as boring as the last few.....U2 went in a bad direction, but "No Line on the Horizon" gives me hope, I really enjoyed it, reminded me of "Achtung Baby"
Ryir554
Don't forget Kill em' All.The only Metallica albums I like are Lightning, Puppets, and Justice.

Aside from 5 Minutes Alone, Strength Beyond Strength, and bits and pieces from other songs not really. I wish I could chop up some songs or rework them. It's the same formula like Vulgar but it just didn't work out.
EDIT: Sorry for my bad spelling in the original post. It makes me look like a fool.
Honestly, I like Load, ReLoad, and Death Magnetic. I really don't understand why everyone hates them.
[QUOTE="super_mario_128"]Pink Floyd. The last two albums are essentially David Gilmour solo efforts, and The Final Cut is a serious drop in quality from the four albums that preceded it, even though it is still better than what followed it.Film-Guy
I kinda liked The Division Bell, and david gilmour's solo album on an island was pretty good too.
Same, although they are not fantastic albums, their not terrible either.I agree with LJS, U2 is probably the top of the list. Same with Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters and o so many more. Also although I don't like their music, Linken Park proves how a really bad band, could become a really terrible band. :P

My favorite Metallica song is Disposable Heroes, maybe Damage Inc.
U2 has just been shoveling out the same generi-rock for the last ten years. And Coldplay's music is just boring and overly sappy with no direction. The only band that I like that's actually gotten worse is Weezer (seriously? rapping? WTF?!?!?!?)hillelslovakI totally forgot about Weezer, does everyone remember the awesome days of this band, just fun 90's music.

bah. Can't get it in the country I'm currently in. I'm just happy they created that Buddy Holly song. It's enough to make me happy that the band was created.
