Bands that got worse later on?

Yeah, it's the one I traded for Metallica's Black Album, which, one or two trades later, got me Avantasia's Metal Opera. Metal Opera, now that's a great album. ;)

Yeah, it's the one I traded for Metallica's Black Album, which, one or two trades later, got me Avantasia's Metal Opera. Metal Opera, now that's a great album. ;)

What bands don't get worse later on? When I hear people talking they always say a bands early stuff, they never say they prefer their later stuff.xTheExploited

Led Zeppelin imo. i actually prefer their later albums than there earlier ones. after Led Zeppelin IV they get better.

Same as the Beatles, Abbey Road, is my favourite album....

Most bands tend to beat their bestwithin the first 4-6 albums, with exceptions of course.

I don't think PF are a good example with this though as they wern't really at their best until near theend. If you consider the last 3 albums solo albums, and they basically were, the last PF album would have been The Wall, which is their best in my opinion.

I don't think you can really blame Phil Colins for the changes with Genesis either. I mean their early stuff was more or less Peter Gabriel. You take that away and you more or less take away the identity of the band. The only way they could have continued was to reimagine themselves as something completely diffrent, something they could actually handle, and they did just that. And anyway, everyone knows you can only have 4 good albums in a row before you start to get worse, and they had quite alot of good pop songs.

i said IV and onward. Yea Houses of the holy, Presence, physical grafitti are better imo. ITTOD is good but not great. Sorry to say this but i really dont like III. Least favourite album for me.

U2 has just been shoveling out the same generi-rock for the last ten years. And Coldplay's music is just boring and overly sappy with no direction. The only band that I like that's actually gotten worse is Weezer (seriously? rapping? WTF?!?!?!?)hillelslovak

The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (on the red album) is probably my favorite song by Weezer. Sure, everything else after Pinkerton sucks, but that one song is great.

Annnd...Linkin Park. The first two albums were beyond incredible, and Minutes to Midnight was a huge dissapointment. They totally lost their style and went all out punk rock. Sad.

Pink Floyd. The last two albums are essentially David Gilmour solo efforts, and The Final Cut is a serious drop in quality from the four albums that preceded it, even though it is still better than what followed it.super_mario_128

I have to agree. Not only did Genesis get worse after Gabriel left and Collins took over...but I actually prefer Peter Gabriel's solo material to Genesis. I think Peter Gabriel made the right decision.
